I use these for general nature viewing and the night sky. The optics are sharp, gather a lot of light, and the image stabilization is top-notch. On the downside, they are very heavy and you may well need to rest your elbows on a convenient (if available) surface to steady the image a little more and to avoid fatigue. Also, the eye relief is too long to enjoy the entire field of view with the cups in the standard position. But when folded down, they are hard and very uncomfortable on your eye socket. I took them to a pro optics shop and they could not solve the problem. I asked if they could slice a ring of rubber off the bottom of the cup and slide the rest down for proper relief, but they said that the cup has a lip that fits into a channel on the eyepiece barrel and it probably wouldn't be a good idea to alter it. If Canon will come up with a shorter replacement eye cup, that would be the ticket. Also, they really should supply, standard, objective lens covers. As it is, I use my Canon IS 10x30s much more often and would recommend that you be prepared to return the 15x50s for a refund if you're not happy. We're talking about a lot of money.
Pros: great optics, stabilization
Cons: weight, eye relief, no objective lens covers...

These are like holding a pair of small telescopes for viewing the night sky. Wonderful for astronomy. The image quality is on a par with the best I've had the pleasure to view, at any cost.
Pros: Sharp, clear images, Stabilizer works very well
Cons: Bulky, heavy, expensive...

I utilize these almost daily in the damp outdoor climate of Northwest WA state and they been great! I've found them to be easy to use and quite durable . Also the clarity, particularly when activating the image stabilizer is superb. I'm pleased with this item and do recommend it.
Pros: Handy. They are easy to use, durable and "Oh so clear!"...

amazing, stabile images--worth the $$$!

Nitefaze's review is pretty accurate. I's say if you have very far set eyes these may not be the perfect fit for you, but I imagine that would apply to a very small minority of users. I was a little hesitant to spend so much on a pair of binoculars but wanted the best, and I am totally satisfied with the All-Weather Image Stabilizers. I couldn't believe how steady the image was. It's worlds away from any of the binoculars I've used or owned before. The optics are absolutely dynamite. I would definitely recommend these to someone looking for the best pair of binoculars available who is willing to spend a bit more. I haven't been disppointed at all, and after I used them the price was no longer an issue. I would spend as much again for such high quality lenses....

The Big Picture Delivered

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, FL Written on July 26, 2007
The unit is overall a good buy with the one caveat that the distance between the center of the eye width adjustment is too narrow and doesn't allow me to fit my vision width ... i can use the unit but not confortably. The engineers placed the stops the eye pices cana rticulate ooutward too narrowly. I use on aboat and the this one feature makes the unit less useable for me, but could be perfect for you. The quality of construction is supurb.
Pros: Weight, Balance, Magnification, Batt Life and Stablizing
Cons: Doesn't adjust wide enough for comfortable use ...
