Using this tripod with my C90 spotting scope has added a degree of control that was missing with my other "video/camera" tripods ... It's great for wildlife & star gazing ... It also allows for acurate framing on snapshots.

This may not be the best tripod that is out right now, but it is still worth the buy. With the cheap price, it is an excellent buy and worth the money. I think everyone should have this tripod!

Pros: Lightweight, easy to move and set up
Cons: A manual or set-up sheet would be helpful. There is an annoying lag in the response of the Az wand. Elevation is limited. My wife gets annoyed when the AZ/ALT wands interfere with her........Do they make shorter ones?
Would recommend: yes

Cons: No apparent way to stop slipping in altitude setting
Would recommend: no

The azimuth control is perfect - easy to adjust, then to lock, followed by fine control in order to follow objects. The lock option is good to have but is not critical since even heavy binoculars do not tend to move sideways due to their weight, if the tripod is level. With regard to the altitude setting, there is strangely enough no way to firmly lock a setting, and the slip mechanism that is used is much too weak for its purpose. I have tried to tighten it down as hard as I reasonably can. This makes it difficult to change altitude, but this is still not enough to stop uncontrolled drifts in altitude while viewing. The way I have (partly) overcome that is by attaching a very heavy crow bar as counterweight - needless to say, this is a very awkward procedure. The tripod head design is so severely faulty that it basically renders the tripod useless. In all other aspects, the design (and manufacture) is fine.
