Pros:  Glass is very clear & sharp to the edges
Cons:  screw-on metal lens cap somewhat bulky

Pros:  sharp optics, adjustable tripod collar, astro eyepieces
Cons:  heavy

I use this scope for birding and grab and go for checking out the moon/ planets. The view is very sharp throughout it's zoom range, the zoom eyepiece is high quality for a stock piece. The rotating collar is excellent; when you want to sit and birdwatch, you loosen the collar, rotate scope and look through the angled eyepiece as if you had a straight through scope. Using 1.25" astro eyepieces was a selling point for me but learned that not any eyepiece can be used, the literature is misleading, see this link, it explains alot. http://www.celestron.com/c3/support3/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=2329 . The scope is on the heavy side, not a big deal for me, but you will need a decent tripod head. I am using the Bogen/Manfrotto 701HDV fluid head which is excellent.
