This is a very well built spotting scope. The glass is very clear and crisp and the ED really helps at low light. I was very impressed how easy it was to set up and use. I would suggest something lighter if your hiking or on the go a lot. I use it mainly for the shooting range. ...

I purchased this scope from Optics Planet, and am greatly impressed. I use it exclusively for digiscoping with a Canon Point-and-Shoot, mounted on a heavy Manfrotto tripod. I had to make a wood shim for the Celestron Universal Digiscoping adapter because the camera lense wouldn't clear the eye piece, but other than that there were no set up hassles. After practice in the yard for a few days, with Cardinals, Sparrows, etc I had gotten a handle on digiscoping with the unit, and the photo quality is great. The color and image sharpness is best in the 20x to 30x range with the camera at about half zoom to eliminate vignette. 20x to 30x zoom is plenty for most situations. I also use digital superzoom with a 432 mm equivelant and 20x with the scope beats the digital for distance by a long shot. It is a top shelf deal for the money.
Pros: Optics quality that far surpasses the price.
Cons: I could see it being a bit heavy for some people....

Celestron Regal 80

I was skeptical to spend over $500 on a Celestron spotter considering you can get Burris or even Leupold for the money. I decided to try it out anyway and my expectation were not just met by exceeded. This thing is a knock-out, highly recommend it.
Pros: Amazing Optics and easy to set up...
