Good reflex sight

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on December 26, 2010
I like this reflex scope so far.

I am writing this review because I disagree with the other reviewer who states that the scope is not parallax free at 40 yards.

The first thing I did when I got my new sight was to check for parallax. I have a couple of crummy red dots and a sig red dot and they all have parallax at any distance and it really annoys me. Especially the sig. I thought it would be better.

Anyway, I checked for parallax at 20 yards with the rifle on a bench rest and I could not detect any. Whereever I moved my eye, up, down, side to side, the dot did not move relative to the target. Excellent. That is what I wanted. That is the definition of 'no parallax'. I later tried it at around 60 yards and got the same results.

Don't know why ArcticHighlandr sees parallax in his, unless we have different models.

Combat tested... good to go

Light, awesome setup for a primary entry sight, and great for a close fight backup.

Stands up to the rigors of running the battle field getting jarred and wacked hard, and nasty conditions of heat, dust, and blowing sand.

Pros: Light and very clear field of vision
Cons: Where am I going to get batteries for this???...

Extremely lightweight, very good quality. Removing from the weapon to replace batteries is a little inconvenient, but rarely need changing so it's okay.
Pros: clear and bright sighting
Cons: batteries...

Potentially nice sight with problems

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on November 15, 2007
A potentially great sight that has been poorly implemented and is lacking in product support. I have four that I have used for Bullseye shooting light target loads at a 50ft range. One had a solder weld break under warranty after a couple months use on a target 45. The Dr Sight US repair center said it would take a couple weeks. After a dozen calls and continual responses saying it would be sent next week to next day it finally arrived about 5 months later. Another that I've had on a target 22 for a couple years just died for some unknown reason. The Parallax free claims to 40 yards are not true and all four have noticeable parallax. The mounting screws on all four sights come loose easily until you use the mild blue loc-tite and can still eventually work loose shooting light loaded 45's. Unfortunately the mounting screw's Allen head holes are tiny and strip easily when mild loc-tite is used to hold them. Despite being careful I've had to have a gunsmith drill out the screws on four occasions when I've needed to remove them to change batteries/solve problems. To be safe you should replace the screws each time your remove the sight; the problem is the correct screws are almost impossible to find/obtain and expensive. Elevation and windage adjustment are not the click type and are difficult to adjust quickly and precisely and it requires repeatedly unlocking the adjustment screws, adjusting sights, tightening the lock screws, checking shot placement and repeating this ...

Docter optic 3.5MOA

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, WI Written on July 25, 2007
This is an awesome sight if you have a back up or are mounting it to the side or on top of another scope. It uses batterys which will burn out sooner or later and I dont know what kind of a beating it can take so I personaly wouldent use it as my only sight on a weapon.
Pros: This sight is very small, light, and works very well. The sight is always on, and comes with a cover you have to place over it to turn it off because of a dimmer switch in it. The sight automaticly changes brightness to the level of lighting your in.
Cons: The optic needs a battery, the battery is located in the bottom of the sight. You will have to remove it from the weapon to replace the battery. It is attached to the mount by two screws....
