One-piece mount is now the way I am going.

by blairh, from United States, TX Written on March 16, 2015
I bought this EGW rail as a replacement for a Leupold 2-piece base and rings on a Remington 700 5R. I put a new scope on the rifle with the Leupold set up and realized there was not enough windage adjustment to get it to shoot POA. When I checked the original scope I had on the rifle, there was very little right adjustment left in the scope. The EGW base solved that issue, so there must have had been a misalignment in the Leupold 2-piece base.
The EGW base is rock solid and where some might downgrade it for being aluminum, I personally like the few ounces shaved that an aluminum base offers. I now have several EGW bases and they have all performed flawlessly... not to mention you will not have the misalignment issue unless it is the rifle's tapped holes!
The other advantages of a single picatinny rail are 1) a lot more options for rings, and 2) maximum flexibility of ring placement on the scope....

Ring Height Suggestion

by OLEJOE, from United States, LA Written on March 14, 2015
This is a well made mount. I put a Sightron SIII 6-24x50 mm on a Rem 700P and with Warne Low Permanent rings, I have about a 1/4" gap between scope and barrel. I just wanted to let anyone know who might have wondered...
Pros:
  • Nice fit and finish
  • Made theUSA
Cons:
  • A little tall
Best Used for:
  • Long-Range Shooting

Nice strong mount

by red2bravo, from United States, IN Written on February 24, 2015
Looking for a solid strong optics mount that doesn't break the bank, this is the one. Have friends with much more costly rails and this compares with all of them. Mounted on a Remington 700 308 with Vortex scope and rings. Does a great job....

Awesome rail and great shipping. Customer service excellent as always. The EGW rail is a solid piece rail that I believe will handle all of the demands I will put it through. The price attracted me to this rail and I know optics planet doesn't dissapoint on their customer service. Excellent product and excellent transaction....

Great scope rail

by mpglock, from United States, TN Written on January 27, 2015
Put this on a Rem 700 AAC-SD along with Burris Xtreme rings for a Vortex 4-16X50 Viper PST. Base is very well made. Checked the specs on it while mounting thinking it may have to be bedded but no gaps were found. Could have spent 3 times the money on another rail and not gotten the same quality. Highly recommend this product to anyone on a budget-conscious build...
Pros:
  • fits well on rifle
  • price.
Cons:
  • None.
Best Used for:
  • Target, Long Range Hunting, Varminteering

Picatinny base

by USMC 0802, from United States, TX Written on January 10, 2015
At one time, I would of said yes to the recommendation. I have 4 or 5 of these rails mounted on various rifles. They are as good of quality as one can build and the finish is good and the price is cheap at $30. The reason I no longer recommend this base is because I prefer the Weaver brand of picatinny bases that are also $30. The reason I like Weaver over EGW is because the slots on the Weaver bases are flat and square like you would find on the built in picatinny rail or upper receiver on AR rifles. The EGW is not flat across the top which makes it easier to snag and when mounting rings, it is harder to slide forward and aft. The Weaver brand picatinny for the same money is now my go to picattiny base...

EGW Base's are as good as the $100.00 plus base's for half the money.

by Doug, from United States, PA Written on January 7, 2015
I have EGW base's on all of my rifles and would recommend them to anyone. As a retired sniper I trust EGW to keep my scopes zero on all the time!!! These base's are as dependable as the more expensive base's for about half the money....

Excellent rail mount for Remington 700 short action

by Acadiana Armory, from United States, LA Written on December 23, 2014
I added this scope mount to my Remington AAC-SD 300 blackout bolt action rifle so that I could install the newer rail-mounted thermal and night vision scopes on my rifle. This worked perfectly and is very solid. It adds versatility to optic mounting, but does add a tad bit of scope height...well worth the trade off to me. Very high quality product as well....
Pros:
  • High Quality. Very Sturdy.
  • scope mounting options
  • night vision mounting options
Cons:
  • adds some scope height
Best Used for:
  • Hunting/Bench rest
  • night vision hunts

Aluminum rail fits perfect

by C Burlingame, from United States, CA Written on December 21, 2014
No issues with this rail. Matches color of stainless Remington 700 perfectly. Did not need to bed it or shim the base. Getting .50 inch groups at 100 with Hornady HPBT 168's so this scope base is obviously not harming accuracy....
