Quality less then usual

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, OH Written on April 21, 2013
Have used rail from EGW on previous build and loved it. Quality of edges on part are poor. Hopefully this will not cause issues with the rings being aligned, that is if optics planet ever gets them shipped to me.
Pros: Functional
Cons: Quality of machined edges...

Fits Well, Easy to Install, but rather expensive

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, WA Written on February 16, 2013
The rail fits well with no alterations required. It is easy to install. It is rather expensive, but it seems to be the only single piece base available for this rifle.
Pros: Fits well, easy to install
Cons: Rather expensive...

EGW Remington 788 Mount

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on December 1, 2011
Great fit. I had no problem with mounting. The screws lined up perfectly and the front (muzzle end)of mount base sits close to the barrel band and the top of the picatilly rail extends about a half inch over the backside of barrel band. The ejection port lined up perfectly and I have no problems with spent cases hitting scope even with windage knob directly over it.
Pros: Great fit and very pleased
Cons: none...

EGW Remington 788 Picatinny Rail Scope Mount

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, TX Written on February 8, 2011
Overall, a high-quality product that allows more flexibility in the mounting of a scope on the Remington 788. However, the 788 has a recoil lug that protrudes a bit higher than the top of the receiver and, out of the box, the EGW mount would not clear the lug and sit level on the receiver. After removing about 1/8" of material from the base of the mount with a Dremel tool, it rested flat on the receiver and could be attached. Not a difficult fix, but one that could be prevented during manufacure.
Pros: Good quality product. Excellent utility.
Cons: Not quite a "drop-in". Needed some fitting....

Great base for the 788!

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, MO Written on January 11, 2011
Purchased this base for 788 in 30-30. Always had trouble getting enough eye relief out of my scope, but not with this base. The rail extends back towards the shooter from the rear mounting hole by quite a bit. This base is very rigid and uses counter sink screws that really lock it into place. Great base for the 788!...

Awesome Scope Mount for the 788!!!

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, MO Written on December 16, 2010
I bought this for my 788 .30-30 and it is excellent. Fit and finish is superior to most. The one piece is much more rigid than the two piece since the receiver is only tapped for one rear mounting screw. The base is very thick where the screws go and there is alot of meat for the screws to hold on to. The counter sink screws really lock it in place and eliminate any chance of shifting. The best thing about this base is it allows you to bring the scope much closer to your eye than my previous two piece base. I highly recommend this base to anyone with a 788!...

remington 788

this is the only solid rail mount that i could find that i liked. it mounts very easily. it has plenty of adjustment to where you can place your scope where you would like to on your gun. other rails don't have the adjustment that i need to bring the scope back far enough where i like it. the mount also extends up over the recoil lug so you are able to put your rings ahead as far as you would ever need. ...
