EGW Winchester 70 20 MOA Rail

by UKWildcats, from United States, OH Written on December 11, 2014
I have a early 70's Model 70 Target rifle with stripper clip guide in the receiver.
-- Sat perfectly on the receiver
-- I had to drill 1 hole (the forward hole nearest chamber of the 2 rear holes) since my rifle is different probably due to stripper clip guide
-- After installation I did get extra MOA compared to the Weaver 20MOA rail -- estimate is about 6 Mils increase. I do not believe the weaver 20moa rail gave me any extra -- and I hade to drill a hole in that one also.

Product well machined -- Recommended.

Be careful when ordering for a Winchester Model 70

by Thomas Stevens, from United States, SC Written on September 28, 2014
Depending on what facility manufactured the weapon the pre drilled holes may be different for the same caliber, and model rifle. It is best to measure.
The middle spread is the distance between (scrw 2----------scrw 3) the two middle holes.
scrw 1--scrw 2-----?"-----scrw 3--scrw 4
Order the rail you need based upon this chart:

Winchester 70 Short Action: 3.259"
Winchester 70 Long Action: 3.805"
Winchester 70 WSM: 3.514"
Winchester 70 WSSM: 3.225"...
Pros:
  • Allows a scope to be mounted in a variety of positions, relative to the eye.
Cons:
  • It's aluminum watch out for bi metal corrosion
  • over time.

20 MOA picatinny rail

by Rusty, from United States, AZ Written on July 30, 2014
This rail is average for lipping up your scope to gain more moa's. Clint Szymanski "the great spike hunter" recommends this moa bracket for his spike shooting. In his 1/8 moa rifle scope he gets a lot more clicks. Also he shoots the same amount of spikes....

EGW Picatinny Rail

by Top, from United States, NC Written on July 30, 2014
The EGW Picatinny Rail I ordered for a Winchester Mod 70 short action
competition rifle is well machined and finished. Holes aligned
perfectly and bolts were correct length. My particular Winchester
is clip slotted, so only one rear bolt could be utilized, but the
ample threads on the rear bolt secured the rail nicely....

model 70 20 MOA scope base

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, MO Written on April 19, 2012
I used this short action model 70 20MOA base on my Marlin XS7 7mm-08. It fit perfectly even though it was made for a winchester. easy to install and works great. only problem is that it seemed kind of expensive for a piece of machined aluminum that did not cost much to make. i would buy again from optics planet though.
Pros: easy to install
Cons: price...
