EXPS2-2 Red Dot Sight and G33.STS Magnifier

by GVJohn, from United States, CA Written on March 22, 2015
Excellent quality and extremely rugged. Fit and finish is perfect and sighting in the optics is a breeze. I have a bad habit of closing one eye when using a scope but with this setup I feel very comfortable keeping both eyes open, whether using just the red dot or it in combination with the magnifier. Quick target acquisition is as has been stated by many, QUICK!...

EOTECH GETS 4 STARS - OPTICS PLANET GETS 2 1/2 STARS

by JackRolandMurphy, from United States, CA Written on January 26, 2015
EOTECH gets 4 stars for design, quality construction and performance. The holo red dot is legendary, and the 3x scope works well. However, for the price and weight, spending a couple of hundred dollars more gets you a Trijicon ACOG that relies on fiber optics for the reticule, making it a simpler and lighter solution for relatively CQB. Although the EXPS2-2 uses a small CR123A battery, the Trijicon uses no batteries. Simplicity of the Trijicon ACOG makes it a superior design. However, the circle red dot is reminiscent of Luke Skywalker lining up his shot on the Death Star exhaust port.
OPTICS PLANET (for this shipment only) gets 2 1/2 stars because $2,000 of optics were shipped 2d day air with almost NO packing material other than 2 inflatable pillows. This meant that the $250 mount, the accompanying Leupold AND the EOTECH were bouncing around inside the overly large cardboard box. In fact, the mount was OUT of its packaging. So far, everything seems to work. I am unsure whether this is an anomaly because prior orders of non-fragile goods have been competently packaged....

Eotech exps2 With g33

by Josh, from United States, NY Written on December 19, 2014
I couldn't be happier with this sight and magnifier. I use trijicon red dots at work and they work fine but I prefer this reticle. With the magnifier its a little more picky about where your eye is. But I keep my nose almost to the charging handle with the stock out 1 click. I wish I could convince the higher ups at my work to use these. They aren't cheap but for the flexibility of this system I was willing to part with the money....

HHS-II Holographic Hybrid II w/ EXPS2-2 and G33.STS Magnifier is a disappointment.

by Pooterjoe, from United States, WA Written on December 8, 2014
The sight looks great but I am very frustrated with the canted reticle observed with it really being really canted when using the Magnifier. Eotech has failed to respond to my email. I came to the conclusion that this canted reticle was found to be by numerous reviewers so noted on the Internet. I have the Aimpoint Comp M4s and I consider it a better system then the Eotech. The Eotech I find being a great sight but for the Canted Reticle that is so frustrating and unacceptable. It is unfortunate that Eotech doesn't resolve this defective feature of the sight that purchasers have experienced....

Hope Eotech will remedy the canted reticle

by Pooterjoe, from United States, WA Written on December 4, 2014
I bought this system from Optic Planet a couple years ago and just got around to mounting it on my New Colt 6940 AR. The reticle exhibits a slight cant and when utilizing the G33 Magnifier the reticle is annoying to see the reticle with emphasized cant. I'm a retired Sheriff's Department Firearms Instructor and I for one expect a Precision Sight Instrument to exhibit no defects. I would expect that Eotech should remedy what appears to be a frequent problem with the sight system. I did check expect all mounting surfaces on the sight and the magnifier and I'm convinced the rail on my rifle is absolutely level.
I did send a email off to Eotech and hopefully I'll hear from them as to if I should be sending the sight system to them....

Easy to use

by Vermonter, from United States, VT Written on September 7, 2014
It took a bit, but I finally realized I put the laser on backward. I got it on right, and it was really easy to sight in while prone. The magnification is really nice. When it sits inside, I leave the magnification off, it slides in and out really quite easily. For a practical HD weapon used at 100 yards or less, it's hard to beat....

Very Good Selection

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, CA Written on June 26, 2014
I researched many different red dot sights prior to choosing this package deal. When I took it to the range the first time I was able to install the sight and magnifier with ease and zero in little time and with little effort. The second time I went to the range there were several people admiring it, so I let them give it a try. Everyone was hitting the 300 meter steel target on the first attempt and my Eotech EXPS2-2 and G33 Magnifier was a hit to first time users. While I am still learning new ways to use this combination system, I am impressed with not only the accuracy, but the versatility and especially the price.
Pros: Easy to set up and zero. After that very user friendly.
Cons: kit should come with cleaning cloth...

For the money... I passed

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, NC Written on February 17, 2014
I wanted a little something more out of the magnifier. Also, the reticle is made up of tiny dots that just wasn't clean to look at. It would wash out going from the shadows to bright light.
Pros: Clean looking, ease of use, built like a tank
Cons: the reticle is made up of little laser dots and was distracting. I didn't like the 3x magnification, it needed more!...

Great scope for what it is

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, IL Written on January 30, 2014
I paid $834 for this combo (good negotiating) PLUS the $120 rebate for a total of $714! For the price, you cant beat it.

The magnifier should be adjustable which could greatly increase medium to long range shooting. It would be a much better product.
Pros: Compact, clear, wide field of view.
Cons: Magnification...

Eotech HHS-II Review

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on November 8, 2013
The HHS-II came in a single protective carrying case. Installation and setup was a breeze. Zeroing of the sight was also fairly easy, and having the G33 made sighting simple considering my old eyes. Functionally, the EXSP2-2 and G33 worked excellent and are well-designed products.

My only complaint was that the after my initial use of the G33, I noticed a piece of lint internal to the magnifier. It was one of the those things where once you notice it, it starts bothering you. I called Eotech customer service, and they offered to replace the G33 after I sent the "defective" one back.
Well, I went ahead and did that and received my replacement G33 in about 2 weeks.
I would have preferred that they cross-shipped a new one to me to cut my wait time down and/or send my a pre-paid shipping label, but they didn't offer those options to me.
The HHS-II is a bit pricey, but the unit is well worth it. I was considering an Aimpoint sight/magnifier, but I'm glad that I went with the Eotech. It's a bit on the heavy side, but you get use to that quickly. Finally, and to be honest, this unit just looks awesome.
Pros: Excellent optics for close-to-mid range sighting
Cons: Expensive, slightly heavy...
