This is a nice sight, it is well built and easy to use. The only drawback would be the location of the controls which make it more difficult to use with night vision equipment.

I love my Eotech 553. Fits on my YHM Quad Rail/Spikes Tactical Upper Great! No movement, very tight. I love the quick release mount. It is not a cheap optic but you get what you pay for. Thanks OpticsPlanet!

The EOTech 553 is a great optic for people needing no magnification for shooting. This can be mounted to any gun with a picatinny rail system. I have mine mounted to a M4 rifle. The reticle is great for shooting to about 300 meters where I have my gun zeroed to. The 1 MOA dot is great for the longer distance stuff and the 65 MOA ring is great for close in work, i.e. room clearing. The extra batteries and scope cover that came with the EOTech are great and round out everything you need for the sight.

Pros: Extremely rapid target acquisition, Durable
Cons: Reticle is somewhat grainy due to holography, Price
Would recommend: yes

Solid construction and fast target acquisition. I have never used a holosight previously and was able to keep both eyes open and acquire targets very rapidly. It took a while to sight in this new optic due to fine adjustments in windage and elevation. If you are attempting to co-witness with back-up iron sights (BUIS), note that this model is 7 mm taller than the 552 series. The BUIS on my rifle (Sabre Competition Deluxe) witness in the lower 1/2 of the field of view. This sight works great for short distances (~ 100 yards or less). Beyond that one should consider adding a magnifier.

Pros: Great sight, durable and reliable, user friendly
Cons: A.R.M.S.mount is not the best choise, Larue would be better
Would recommend: yes

EOTech 553 is a great optical sight. Very durable and reliable. It is user friendly because there is no need of mounts because A.R.M.S.mount is built in. Sightline is slightly higer than iron sight, so the front sight post won't bother the reticle. Using 123A batteries are great because it is the same as surefire flashlights. I recommend this EOTech 553s to everyone in military and law enforcement officers.
