I bought that Eotech equipment to put it on a lever rail on a Marlin336 in 35Rem. With the magnifier in place, the red dots help to compensate bullet drop. Off course, the characteristics of the 35Rem makes the lowermost dot needless. Having the G23 flipped to side, the four dotes are not really to distinguish. Means, without magnification, the dots appear as a vertical line. In this configuration the Eotech is still very valuable because of its fast aiming capability with both eyes open (e.g. stalking in thick brush) - in this case just the top of the "red post" is used for aming within short distances. Flip the maginfier to side gives space for a head mounted nightvision monocular. The MPOII added a lot of capability to my rifle.
