The glass RX inserts are a little weighty plus I have an extremely small head, so thank God for the elastic strap or they'd fall off

I'm a Safety Manager for a construction company. We supply ESS ICE with Rx inserts to employees requiring prescription eyewear. We originally trialled Wiley X Advanced Sabre but the RX insert stick back too far and press against your eyeballs. ESS ICE RX inserts (wire frame) are a far more comfortable, close sit behind eye shield and doesn't impede peripheral vision with chunky frame.

These are high quality lenses in a wire frame that fit perfectly in my ICE Naro system. The optical quality is excellent and the production time quick. The price is very competitive with any other provider. Highly recommended for anyone needing vision correction with these tactical/safety lenses.

Pros:  ESS brand
Cons:  The RX inserts just don't
Would recommend:  yes

flight wrote:

Stay away from the ESS RX inserts, mine certainly do not fit as pictured and were a complete waste of $100. There's about a 1cm gap between the RX lense and the ESS shield, the lenses for my metal frames do not look anything like the picture on this page and do not extend to the sides at all. They're cut more like aviator lenses turned upwards where the rx insert almost stands out above the shield. Look for other RX options, these just aren't useable

Pros:  Good option for those with glasses
Cons:  Was not made according to ESS specs.
Would recommend:  no

I wanted wrap around protection while shooting and my regular glasses didn't provide that so I ordered the ICE glasses and these inserts. When the insert arrived I put them on to find everything was distorted. There is an instruction sheet included and on the back are some instructions for the optics lab that is making your lenses. The insert has to match the curvature of the ICE lens after your prescription lenses are installed. A template is provided for the lab techs and when I check my insert it was way off, thus giving a distorted view. It seems the optical lab didn't check and just made these like a regular pair of glasses. They work just fine until I installed them into the ICE frame and they flexed to match the inside curve of the protective lens. Not only was my vision distorted, the insert frame would rub against the ICE lens and wear a spot into them. Wasted 100 bucks. Best if you could the insert frame and take them to your optometrist and make sure they see the note on matching ...

Author: STEVE (verified customer) , GETTING OLDER, GOD BLESS AMERICA AND ALL THE PATRIOTS, from BALTIMORE MD. on Sep 23, 2009
Pros:  EASY TO USE, ADJUST,CLEAN, UV COATED
Cons:  YOU LOOK THROUGH 2 GLASSES
Would recommend:  yes

STEVE wrote:

I LIKE THESE GLASSES, BUT THEY TAKE A LITTLE GETTING USE TO. I HAD THEM FITTED TO A NEW PRESCRIPTION AND THAT ALONE NEEDS TIME. YOU ARE LOOKING THROUGH TWO LENS AS OPPOSED TO ONE. YOU HAVE A FULL SIDE VIEW, BUT THE RX LENSE DOES NOT WRAP AROUND. SIDE VIEWS ARE THROUGH THE PROTECTIVE LENS ONLY. THIS REQUIRES YOU TO TURN YOUR HEAD. A FEATURE THAT COULD HELP WOULD BE TO OFFER AN ACCESSORY TO SUPPORT THE INSERT ALONE, WHEN YOU DON'T NEED THE PROTECTIVE GLASSES. I HAVE OLDER EYES AND THIS IS WHAT THE DOCTOR CALLED FOR. THANKS, STEVE

Pros:  Its nice to have full field of view prescription safety glasses.
Cons:  Did not work for my prescription and face shape.
Would recommend:  no

engineer derf wrote:

The prescription was correct, I had it checked. The left lens is turned at such an angle that is distorts my prescription and give me a killer headache. Will continue to adjust to see if I can get it to work, but there is very little room to adjust from the bridge piece.

I was very disappointed in these inserts. Very difficult to insert onto Eyeshield with nose piece. Arrived unadjusted to fit the Eyeshield. The angle must be adjusted precisely for the prescription to work. Eyeshield is unwearable when inserted without adjustment.
