Was hard to find a mount for the particular gun. This one satisfies my needs but would have been so much easier if there had been instructions to show which end went forward vs backwards.
Once mounted, works very well

Pros: sturdy, nice finish, perfect fit.
Cons: thicker (taller) than a stardard weaver mount
Would recommend: yes

It works great. Only good base available for the Axis. Because of the length of the Savage Axis action, the mount is LONG! As noted in the con, the base is thick and sturdy so scope will sit up higher. But because the base is so long, a normal length scope will have the front bell over the base (not over the bare barrel). Thus, a large diameter objective lens scope will require one of two actions. 1. Use extra high rings to clear the base or 2, grind down the front two or three groves so the scope will clear the base and not be ridiculously high above the barrel. That is what I did. You can't shorten the front of the base as the mounting screws are near the front due to the long action. This is NOT the fault of the base but the gun.

Order this rail because I was limited by the two piece weaver rail that came pre-mounted with the rifle which is for a long action rifle scope. Now I can mount a compact, long action scope or anything in-between. Well made and comes with screws. Didnt have it in stock, but optic planet kept me informed by email and gave me an option to buy from somewhere else, but I stayed with them because of the reviews, etc and it was shipped the same day as stated. Best purchase Ive made in a while.
