Frankford Arsenal Platinum Case Prep & Trim System

by Ugly, from United States, NC Written on November 23, 2014
Got tired of hand prepping my 5.56 cases, so decided to try the Frankford Arsenal Case Prep system. What a hand and time saver. I can completely prep a case in about 10 seconds. Only thing I changed on it was the primer pocket tool. Installed the Hornady small primer pocket reamer. Threads are the same, so it works like a dream....

Frankford Platinum Series case prep center.

by Bigjohn1806, from United States, TX Written on November 20, 2014
Been using using the RCBS power trim with 3 way head but I like the Frankford better.

1. It takes up less room

2. It has less parts to contend with

3. It is very easy to setup

4. Very accurate and adjusts easily

I am extremely satisfied with this purchase....
Pros:
  • accurate and repeatable results
Cons:
  • none... yet
Best Used for:
  • Reloading

Franklin Arsenal Case Prep and trim station.

by John Waugh, from United States, FL Written on October 27, 2014
If you buy your brass as I do, used 1x fired from ranges.
You know they are allot of work to size and prep a thousand or 500 at a time.
This unit saves me hours of time that is better used loading. The three stations not used for sizing are a standard thead so you can add extra tools from other companies for special jobs. I have added the RCBS military crimp remover and it works wonderful.
I was doing this with a cordless drill and my hands were in agony when finished. I zip though military crimped brass at 3-4 a minute. sized, chamfered, deburred, military crimp removed and primer pocket cleaned!
The sizing is very accurate and repeatable, and it is easy and fast to setup.
The unit it self is rather quite even when cutting down the brass necks which cuts as fast as I feed it. The cutting blades are replaceable as are all the other tools on the power take off gear box. And as I stated earlier will accept many more tools as you need them. I love this unit as do my aching arthritic fingers. Once you have processed your brass you can fire form batches to your favorite rifle and then only re-size the necks making you brass last longer. No stretching of the cases with the full size die. If the case has been stretched again your prep station makes quick work of getting it back to your loader with the correct length. This is the only tool you will need with all of it's capabilities. I recommend this tool to anyone who reloads old brass as a necessity, not a gadget to take up w...

Frankford Arsenal case prep tool

by Bill, from United States, IA Written on October 25, 2014
Does what I expected it to do. The shafts for the chamfering tools and the primer pocket cleaner wobble a small amount, but it is not really objectionable.

The case trimmer works fine. I just followed the directions for set-up and trimming. Have been checking about 10% of the cases with a Lyman headspace case-length gauge. Then check about 1% with micrometer. Get about 0.001" variation case to case.

Much faster and easier than my old RCBS hand-operated trimmer....

Cutting head dull after 50 cases

by Woody Farnsworth, from United States, AZ Written on October 17, 2014
Case length cutting head won't cut anymore after 50 cases (all brass) I have sent a message to manufacturer but haven't heard back yet. I like the idea of the tool, but seems to have a quality control issue as all the cutting tools wobble....
Pros:
  • Size and design idea
Cons:
  • Quality Control

Nice Job!!

by RN, from United States, GA Written on October 17, 2014
This is a really nice prep center. It's well thought out, very well made, and everything works as it should. The cutting head that came with it caused me a bit of grief until I called FA and the nice lady in the phone started our conversation with "let me guess", the brass isn't trimming correct? .Well, Yes...that's correct....She said the heads were cut to the wrong specs and FA had a new one to me within 3 days. Works perfect now!! I tried to find a unit the would swage, trim, and do all the other stuff I needed for case prep and am very happy I ended up with this unit..Good Job FA!!...

Time saver

by EWN, from United States, TX Written on October 13, 2014
Product performs as advertised, Best solution on the market in my opinion to trim cases, de-bur with one tool. The only flaw I found was the supplied case neck cutting bit was dull and not square to drive shaft, replaced it with RCBS Carbide cutter, issue resolved....

good investment

by Bar3r, from United States, CA Written on August 2, 2014
Excellent machine. I've been reload since 1975 on and off and this makes case prep a lot faster. My first job was prepping 1k 308, piece of cake everything worked perfect. Now for what I'm not to happy about. not much room to do 300 acc. The Collete is made out of aluminum and seems to wear making inconsistent trimming with the short 300 acc cases and very hard to pull back out. I'm going to call the company and see if they have a solution....
