Firearms Instructor and Trainer

I already had about 6-5 range bags, but this one has features that none of the other have. Well Made bag and I would recommend it to anyone. Materials are top notch and sewing is great. Real good ideas when into this bag like multi-gun pistol cases stored in the side of the bag, open areas for hearing protection and eyewear, ammo and magazine storage....

Awsome bag a "must get" !!!

by Tac Happy, from Canada, AB Written on August 29, 2014
My local shooting range listed this range bag as a "must get", so I became curious and found it on Optics Planet . When I read a review that this range backpack was being used while shooting at handgun competitions, I became even more curious because I am getting involved with the IDPA. After reading the Amazon reviews and visiting the G.P.S. website goutdoorsproduct to find more pictures, I discovered that while their website does not show pictures of all the compartments, it does give the potential customer a better descriptive idea of what to expect in terms of material construction and versatility.

Their website indicates that this range backpack is made from "1000 Denier H.D. material with Dupont teflon coating" (I assume that "H.D." means "high density"), and is triple-stitched with nylon that is both "mildew and rot resistant." Several very good plusses.

Very useful is their use of visual identification tags to help with the issue of conveniently organizing all the necessary items that a shooter needs on the range. Of course, there's never enough room or compartments to put everything that could be taken to the range, but given the size constraints of a backpack they came close.

I tried to attach a Maxpedition Bottle Holder for my Klean Kanteen to the G.P.S range backpack, but the Maxpedition's attached carabiner is too small to connect plastic "D" ring near the range bag's carrying handle. I'm glad that I ordered Maxpedition's grimlocks!

I also attached tw...

GPS Tactical Range Backpack

by GrueneHorn, from United States, TX Written on August 26, 2014
I have been through several different backpacks through hunting and Range shooting. I must say this is the best Pack I have used to date. Very rugged built with heavy stitching. I don't doubt this one will last me a longtime. Has plenty of room to pack lots of ammo and cleaning supplies. The individual pistol compartments allow lots of pre-loaded magazines and keeps everything separated and protected from dinging or scratching....
Pros:
  • Durable outer materials
  • Lots of storage
  • nice look
  • very departmentalized
Cons:
  • cant think of any yet
Best Used for:
  • Bug out bag
  • gun range use

what I expected

by AS, from United States, TX Written on August 5, 2014
having checked out the youtube video on the product I knew what I was getting. the product that was reviewed in that video had a small tool kit included that this one does not, not that I needed that anyway. Some may find the labeling of each pocket with icons a bit silly, still it can be an aid to memory, particularly if you have more than one pack. the straps for targets are velco so they can be tightened so as not to let the targets fall out. the soft pistol cases appear well made. one could easily put two smaller pistols in these rather than just one. The rear top access lies above the space for the pistols and has false bottom that can be disconnected when the latter aren't in the bag to make it a regular backpack. Sturdy and adjustable. If you need a big pack this will work well. If you don't then you probably would have bought a shoulder bag rather than a backpack anyway....

Great Range Bag

by mg, from United States, CA Written on July 31, 2014
Construction and materials are of the highest quality. Spent a lot of time researching and comparing range bags before buying this one. Most popular range bags look like big duffle bags that seem to put an emphasis on carrying large amounts of ammo rather than guns. This bag is great because you can carry it comfortably on your back, it has dedicated storage envelopes for pistols in a lockable compartment, and has plenty of space for everything else you'll need at the range - including ammo. The pistol compartment is enveloped in a hard shell providing protection for your guns and a rigid base base for the compartments at the top of the bag. Bag is suprisingly light, stands on its own, is easy to use, never loses shape and can carry a bunch of ammo without worrying about the bottom sagging or dropping out. Only downside is that you feel like you have a box of pistols protruding from your back while wearing this, but is something that is overcome after the first few times wearing it. Bag is also easily carried using the handle. Great bag, highly recommend....
Pros:
  • High quality
  • Excellent design
  • Space for range neccesities
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Range

A tough looking, versitile, practical BRICK HOUSE

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on March 15, 2014
I'm a 25 year retired sworn officer. I shot on my police department's pistol team, (1,000 officers) was the sniper on the SWAT Team, shot #1 in my Federal agency's Criminal Investigator Training Program . . rated "distinguished expert" my entire federal career . . I have HIGH expectations for firearms and firearms equipment . . if you're looking for the most versatile, well designed, most organized, sharp looking & spacious range bag, please stop reading and order THIS bag . . I've had and seen countless range bags during the last 30 years . . and nothing compares to this . .all the others pale in comparison. Whoever designed it should have received a bonus and a raise . . the bag is "brilliant." A few people have complained that when all 3 sleeves have a gun and 4 magazines in them, they are so thick, they won't fit into their designated area. It's true, and what I did was remove 2 magazines from just ONE sleeve, and the 3rd bag slid in like a hot knife through warm butter. All the magazines were double stacked too . . please people, use some creativity . . and by the way, the 2 magazines fit perfectly in the bag's 2 spare magazine holders within another compartment in the bag. If you're looking at this bag and reading this , , you want it . . don't deny yourself the best bag out there. It's the same material as Maxpedition bags (which are great) and the same quality of craftsmanship. You will IMMEDIATELY want to fill this bag up . . and will. In addition to all the...

Just about perfect

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, CA Written on February 2, 2014
So I bought this no-name bag a while back to simplify handgun carrying to the range. As stated, it is designed for mid-sized firearms and that describes it's only real limitation. I have a long Benelli M95 .22lr that doesn't fit in the sleeve, my USP full size just fits and my 5" (plus comp) S&W revolvers don't come close to fitting.
Still, a great concept, very useful but needs 1-2" of more width of the gun sleeves/compartment to be more universally capable.
Pros: Great design for carrying handguns and stuff
Cons: Handgun sleeves are a bit short...

Awesome bag, not sure what the last comment was about but I use the sleeves for a full size 1911, M9 Berretta and a Buckmark Target pistol. All fit without issue. I'd actually like to purchase extra sleeves, just not sure how to go about that. Meets and exceeds all exceptions

If you put handguns in the individual sleeves, the sleeves will not fit back into the backpack. Worthless.
Pros: Nicely Made
