CCW - Low profile.

by Dan-O, from United States, NH Written on December 2, 2014
Still like the real leather. It grows on you with time . Break-in, must be done first thing . It was very tight for my Springfield A. Ultra compact .45 After several days of applications of leather lotion and holsterings. Two, half days of wear w/ 1.75 in belt and you are good to go....
Pros:
  • Comfortable
  • unabtrusive
  • not a lot of leather noise
Cons:
  • needs a little upkeep
Best Used for:
  • CCW

Galco Concealable Belt Holster

by Bob, from United States, WY Written on October 6, 2014
Galco makes the best "off-the-shelf" holsters. A better holster is a custom holster with a long wait. Trust me on this as I have bought a lot of holsters. Many leather holsters use less quality leather. Galco only uses top quality leather assembled with excellent workmanship....
Pros:
  • Cost when compared to competitors.
  • workmanship is top notch
Cons:
  • None.
Best Used for:
  • Concealed carry.

SIG P226R in a Galco Holster

by Old US Marine, from United States, MT Written on August 29, 2014
This holster was ordered for a SIG P226R. The craftsmanship is excellent, the leather, stitching, dyeing all within acceptable manufacturing practices of a established Holster maker. The fit was very snug, necessitating the sidearm to be placed inside a bar towel and forced into the holster for a couple of days then the towel removed and the weapon holstered and removed a couple of hundred times. The reasons for the tight fit stem from the 1913 rail machined into the dust cover/forward frame and the flex of the holster when belted against the body. The pistol now rides tight in the holster just aft of my strong side hip but still needs to be drawn straight out before rotation and presentation. As the holstered weapon is carried and exercised the draw will get easier and smoother, this is a liability of leather as opposed to hard synthetic materials which allow a faster draw right out of the box but make more noise when bumped....
Best Used for:
  • Concealed Carry (Winter/Fall)

Excellent Belt Holster

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, NC Written on June 7, 2013
Fit extremely tight as it came from the factory. Followed Galco's recommendations for break in with plastic wrap and break in was quick and easy. Followed the break in with Galco's Draw EZ and it fits and feels as if the gun had been carried in it for years. Well made and should last for many years. Only thing I could add to make it better would be if it were lined. Great holster for outside the belt carry.
Pros: Good Leather, Rides Close, Excellent Fit & Finish
Cons: Wish it was lined....
