Good lockable safe for my firearm

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, TX Written on January 5, 2014
Large enough for my full size firearm or 7 inch GPS, small enough to fit under the front seat of my truck. Seems to be very secured. Padding just enough to not damage contents.
Pros: Just the right size, compact, secure
Cons: plastic lock knob, combination lock ...

Nice little lockbox

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, CA Written on May 10, 2013
This thing is certainly not going to stop a dedicated thief but for $37 it's a nice little locked container that you can throw in the car and comes with a cable to attach to the seat frame. Probably not that hard to break into but better than nothing. Would be nice if it were CA DoJ approved so it could serve double duty for home storage, but for that you need to go the next model up to the microvault which is substantially heavier and costlier.
Pros: Compact, relatively lightweight, inexpensive
Cons: Not a CA DOJ approved locking device, not particularly secure...

Excellent for Vehicle Use

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, TX Written on May 10, 2013
I bought this to lockup my handgun in my truck. Works great. You can open it without looking. It conceals under the back seat. Excellent tactile response on the buttons. The locking cable is very secure. I've had this for 4 months and no complaints.
Pros: Size, Easy to Open, Secure...

Gunvault Nanovault Portable Handgun Safe w/ Combination Lock

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, OR Written on March 18, 2013
I have another Gunvault product which I've been very happy with and wanted to add a second when the price was right. The only reason for my less than perfect review is slight dissatisfaction with the small combination wheels which mean you can't be in a hurry to open. Otherwise, great product and excellent value! Fits my small autos (LC9 and Shield) very well plus mags.
Pros: Functional, easy to use
Cons: small combination dials...

Works well for what it is.

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, WA Written on May 13, 2012
Recommend: Maybe.
With our M&P and FNS you can only place the gun in such that it is pointing the barrel towards you and the lock. The case is not deep enough (high enough) to put the gun in with the handle towards you. All double stack mag handguns will likely have this problem.
As a simple concealed locking case for the car or to keep things in it will work great. Not sure I really want to keep a loaded weapon in one though, too many safety issues for me.
Case is really not that secure but will deter the typical smash and grab thief.
Pros: Not too expensive, decent padding. locks OK
Cons: large frame guns require you to insert with barrel pointing towards you!...

nanovault 300: good for the price

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, WA Written on August 16, 2011
if you are going to use this to keep your gun locked up it does the job. but if you expect to access the gun quickly i'd consider something else. the locking device works but it takes some work every time to get it open. the numbers on the numeric combo device will be aligned but not always open until you tweek them a bit. when you lock it the locking tabs are also flimsy and need to be aligned perfect for the turn knob to turn all the way. but it is still solid and will keep your items protected.
Pros: does what i need it to do
Cons: locking device is flimsy. not a quick access lockbox....

Let me say this: I am not sure if it was just my nv300 that was defective or if all nv300s are like mine. As soon as you open the safe, you immediately notice a strong stench. Although unpleasant, there are worse things, and i guess that can be an easy fix by airing it out for a few days or by removing the patting and replacing it with some of your own... The major problem with MY nv300 was that it did not securely tightly when it was locked. I could easily seperate it a good 1/4 inch to about 1/2 inch with minimal effort with my hands. This is why I am about to send my nv300 back. Someone, more specifically, my nephews could easily pry my safe open with a gap that large. I know this safe is very inexpensive so that i should not expect too much. But it should secure much better than that! It looks and feels sturdy, but it just does not close tightly.
Pros: Inexpensive, light, very portable
Cons: Very strong smell, Does not secure properly...
