The Palm Shelf is Adjustable

by Slipshot, from United States, AL Written on January 30, 2015
Great addition to my bench-rest rifle that already had an adjustable stock. High quality nicely designed product. The grip diameter is large compared to a regular M4/A2 grip, but not so large that you don't feel like you have a good purchase or control. Just the right amount of tackiness. Creates a great pull angle for your finger on the trigger.

Probably the best feature is the fact that the palm shelf is adjustable (which it's not listed in any literature or specs). There are slots (not just holes) cut in the grip that allows you to adjust the shelf to your palm width. Provides for a very consistent hand placement and allows you to relax your hand and concentrate on trigger squeeze. No need to "choke" the grip.

I honestly feel that the product improved (tightened) my shot groups.

About the only improvement I could recommend is to have a door on the bottom of the grip to allow for storage or just plug to keep dirt and trash out....

Nice, beefy grip.

by Kimo, from United States, HI Written on January 16, 2015
I'm not an expert on the AR-15 platform by no means. My observations on this grip are: 1. Nice beefy non slip fits nicely in my hand. 2. Comfortable 3. Feels lot better than my A2 Colt Government Model grip. 4. U.S. made quality very good. 5. The palm shelf could be a little wider....

The finishing touch

by Dave, from United States, IA Written on November 16, 2014
I am building a varmint AR and this grip is one of the finishing touches that will take it to the next level. For bench shooting, it makes a great consistent grip position once set to your hand.

Is it a mandatory upgrade? No. Is it worth it if you want a great long range rifle? Absolutely....

Ergo Means Control

by Colonel, from United States, MD Written on August 15, 2014
This Ergo grip has a large palm swell which could hinder a person with a small hand. My hand is a medium to small grip. However, this Ergo grip gave me positive control with comfortable access to the trigger, magazine release and the B.A.D.(Battery Assist Device) with no problem. I have this mounted on my Bushmaster M4 with a Rock River 18" upper. This Grip gives me much more control of the weapon during magazine changes and manuvering because of the addition of the palm shelf. The leverage of the palm shelf against the bottom of the hand gives the user outstanding one hand control of the weapon. In a bad situation, you could fire the weapon with one hand and have a high degree of confidence of a positive outcome.
I consider the price appropriate for a well made adddition to my weapon. I have found this grip fits just about any purpose. Off-hand, off the bench, three gun, home defense, this grip gives superior control to help ensure lead on target.
Once again, Optics Planet supplies & delivers a quality product with the absolute best customer service. Highly endorse....

'Panther Grip' revisited

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, NV Written on March 28, 2014
Some time ago I had shot a friend's varminter AR setup that used a DPMS 'Panther Grip' and liked it quite well for bench-top use. Recently when I was building a similar setup I went to look for that grip and couldn't find it anywhere. It appears, much like Ergo's licensing of Mapgul's M93 stock (as the Ergo F93), that ERGO has licensed the 'Panther Grip'.

The grip itself is identical to the older DPMS model, however, more color choices are available from ERGO (FDE in my case). The grip shelf is what really makes this nice, however. Sitting at the bench it is easier for me to get a comfortable and steady grip with the shelf. The grip itself has a funny little bend that I don't really like (I'd prefer Magpul's MOE contour), but the grip shelf more than makes up for this.

I guess I'm spoiled on cheap Magpul grips, but that is my only con. This grip is a bit pricey for what you get, but maybe that little shelf adds more to the production costs than I understand. I'd still recommend this to those that are shooting AR-platform rifles from a bench rest. If you feel a bit awkward in getting a grip at the bench, this may be the ticket for you.
Pros: Grip shelf
Cons: Cost...

review for Ergo Grip AR15/M16 Ambidextrous Tactical Deluxe Grip With Palm Shelf Black

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, PA Written on August 3, 2013
I used this on a DPMS .308 Oracle. The modification was to give it a look of a cross between a HK G28 and the LRP rifle. While those utilized a regular ERGO grip, I loved the style of this grip on a PSG1 I used. It was fairly easy to install, a little hard to line up, but impossible if you dont have extended keys. I picked up a set for my ratchet when doing this installation. The grip feels good, there seemed to be a bit as separation from the receiver if you applied enough force, so I switched back the original bolt it that seemed to hold it better. I dont know if that would be an option in all installations.
Pros: Good feel, fairly easy install
Cons: Not as rigid a mount as I expected...
