Worth 2x what they cost!

by Orion61, from United States, IA Written on August 13, 2014
A bit about myself:
I have been an Amateur Astronomer since the early 1970's, I have owned many pairs of Binoculars, in all size and price points. I am pulling from this experience to write this review.
You probably wouldn't want to depend on a new Automobile review from someone that has just bought their first new car. These rate right up there with the Beautiful 20x80 Celestron Binoculars made in Japan by Vixen, true Classics and a joy to use. The Konusvue remind me a lot of those superb binoculars.

Cosmetics:
I have had my Konusvue 20x80 Giant Astronomical Binoculars for about 4 years now.
First off the Binoculars are superbly built. Fully Rubber Armored, they can take bumps and bruises
very well. That said, they Are fairly heavy.
They came with a hard carrying case not just a flimsy Nylon soft case, So far so good.
The rubber Armor has 11 raised ribs running the length of the barrels from the front brace to Prism housing that are ergonomic and provide a nice positive grip.
There are rings in the rubber at the top (Primary Lens) edge that help hold the dust caps on. THIS is a very nice feature and a verification that the people that designed them, took pains to make them
user friendly.
The eyepieces are also rubber coated with fairly deep roll down eye-cups, the Diopter adjustment on the
Right lens is knurled for positive grip.
One note on the eyecups, many inexpensive binoculars use rush production techniques Rubber parts have a curing product added to...

konusvue 20x80 binoculars

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on May 30, 2010
as a binocular, I see 2 images. Unlike my 10x50 0r 7x32 made in china binoculars, I can't get a single image.
I covered one eyepiece and it is a descent spotting scope- a very heavy one.
Primary use: Target archery
Secondary use: terrestrial and astronomical use.
Pros: Descent as a spotting scope
Cons: see 2 images for the price of 1....

I Like The Konusvue 20x80 Binoculars

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, OK Written on March 20, 2010
I took these binoculars on a cruise ship and used them to see several objects in the sky as well as on land. For best results I recomment a tripod or some other means of holding steady. They have a build in tripod adaptor, so it is an easy task.
Pros: Easily transported when traveling
Cons: At about 5pounds it needs support for viewing...

A great Deal For sure!!

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on June 4, 2008
I can't believe the quality and power for this price. I have paid MUCH more in the past and gotten less. I couldn't be more pleased. The literature warms you of the weight but it's not prohibitive. A tripod is still preferable. Can't think of anything I don't like about it. Even the case is more substantial than expected.
Pros: outstanding 'bang for the buck"
Cons: just a tad heavy....

Konus 20x80

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, IL Written on April 3, 2008
better fit and finish than I expected for the price. Great views in daylight or at night - really pulls in the faint stuff. Forget the thin neck strap - use a tripod or mount. You CAN hand-hold them for short periods, but the views will be pretty shaky at 20x. The center focusing wheel mover very smoothly. Too smoothly! It was very easy to bump them out of focus, especially while trying to focus the right eyepiece.
Overall a good deal - especially for the $$.
Pros: well built, great views, good quality
Cons: bulky, touchy focus...
