Junk, Horrible Customer Service

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, IN Written on February 11, 2014
Ordered an ND 3x50 Subzero. Just under $500. Never worked below 40*, after exactly 2 years and about 10 uses it quit working completely. Put new batteries in, nothing. Didnt even outlast the first set of batteries.

I sent the laser back to Laser Genetics for repair or replacement. The product has a 1 year warranty, but surely Laser Genetics would stand behind their product and make this right, considering the short time I had it and the products catastrophic failure.. right? Nope! David Marshall, customer service rep for Laser Genetics, said they would not repair or replace it. However, they would send me a new one for $341! When I asked him if he would buy the same product for that price, after paying $500 just 2 years before and getting limited use out of it, Mr. Marshall refused to answer me. Furthermore, he said they could either send back the $10 I provided for return shipping OR my broken laser Not Both! I said send back the $10, Im not about to sink any more money into that junk light.

Just a warning stay away from all Laser Genetics products!

great light source, bigger than I thought and scope mount is a bit loose but the lazer projection makes up for it. Lazer genetics needs to improvr on the scope mount.
Pros: Great Light Source
Cons: Really Big...

Great at the house not so much in the field

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, CO Written on February 11, 2013
I purchased this Laser for my wife's new rifle. When I got it all set up I was completely stoked to try it out, it worked incredibly in our backyard. We went to TX on a hog hunt and it was one disappointment after another, It seems if there is anything (grass, twigs) between you and what you are trying to see you can not see past the items in the foreground. Well I could deal with that. Our first hog came into the feeder a couple hours after sunset, she hit the light and that bacon was gone! Again a hog came in we dialed the scope all the way out to the broadest setting and the moment the laser was on the bacon was flying, well out of the area anyway. We shot several hogs without the laser and on the last night of the hunt she tried it again and 2 more times the hogs split when the light was hit. Not sure if it works on coyotes but I was counting on this light bringing home the bacon.
Pros: great mount, easy adjustments
Cons: Spooked all the hogs...

Laser is very bright with good adjustment. It is a little bulky but the additional distance is worth it.
Pros: Very bright
Cons: Mount has a little play but it doesn't cause any problems...

Shot targets out to 400 yards. Great light, turns night to day, great product for the money. Great alternative to night vision with a fraction of the cost. Animals eyes are extremely visible at long distance. Mount is a POS, need a better mount.
Pros: awesome night capability,bright light
Cons: Mount moves too much, not very stable...

LaserGenetics Subzero 50mm ND3X50SZ

This is a quality instrument and picking it up gives the first clue. At night, it will light up an area sufficiently to identify your target and the area around it. Focusing the size of the illuminated area allows you to keep it bright enough to be useful. The only negative I have found so far is that the mount needs to have the ability to aim the direction of the beam. With a regular spotlight, there is a wide area of illumination and pointing the beam in the general direction is more than adequate. With this very focused beam, the beam and the scope need to be on the same spot unless you widen it out so it 'floodlights' the subject. The idea behind this light is to keep the beam small and direct it to the point where the crosshairs of the scope is looking. The mount needs to be adjustable to sight in the light, just as you sight in the rifle scope. Pushing on the laser to direct it to the crosshairs works, but is not satisfying, and I expect that the recoil of the rifle will throw it off for a second shot without re-aiming the light. I purchased this laser for hunting feral hogs that root up my pastures at night, and I am looking forward to trying it soon.
Pros: Very bright, very focused beam
Cons: Scope Mount difficult to 'sight in'...

Many uses but not 500 yards!

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on February 10, 2012
Works well for 100 to 150 yards with sufficient field of view to quickly acquire a target. At greater distances the beam must be adjusted to a very small field of view to get good target illumination. It will illuminate targets at long distances but with a field of view about the size of small hog. It makes sense when you think about it.At 500 yards a larger field of view would probably require a light far too big to mount on a rifle. If you can live with a very small field of view this light works.
Pros: excellent mounting system, easy to use, clear illumination, quality construction
Cons: pencil like beam to see longer distances-very small field of view...
