Pros: Great distance light and rescue
Cons: Depth of field is difficult in unfamiliar areas
Would recommend: yes

Thumb slide is tight and difficult to control. However a beam of light 6 feet in diameter at 100 yards is outstanding. Of course the beam can go tighter and further, but you need something to steady it with because it is the hand held version. Depth of field is difficult in unfamiliar area at first glance because of the green light. Learn your terrain first before hunting.

Another Great product, works great on a tripod. Works hand in hand with my ND3x50 when you use both together you'll be amazed at the enhancement and detail. Only complaint is the slide switch is very touchy.

Since this is not designed for direct mounting, it's use for hunting presuppoeses two people. We took it out on a dark night and set up a birchwood-casey hog target-more the size of a medium sized dog- and shot from 300 yards. The target was quite visible through the Leupold tactical scope and the shooter-a master level Service Rifle competitor was quite enthusiastic and is a likely customer. We have used this and other laser genetics designators for observation of deer at night. They show no signs of alarm.

Only worked for 12 months, now it will not turn on. Changed batteries and bought a new end cap. No luck. Called BSA/Laser Genetics and could not get a tech on the line. Left messages and finally got a tech who told me it was not under warranty and that it would cost more in labor to look at it than what it was worth. He told me to just buy a new one. I bought the ND5 and also the ND3. The ND3 has dark spots, like the lens is dirty on the inside of the light, and only about 60% of the circle will light up. The tech told me the same thing about the ND3. So bottom line is to hope they break before the one year warranty is up or else you have a really nice looking paper weight. They were really nice when they worked. I spent over $600 on two lights and they are both useless to me now one year after I bought them. I only got one hunting season out of them. Don't waste your money on Laser Genetics products. Not dependable and horrible customer service!

WHE I WAS SHOPPING FOR A SCOPE MOUNTED LASER SUCH AS THE ND3 I NOTICED THE ND5 COULD BE USED ALSO, ACCORDING TO THE VIDEOS, BUT SOON REALIZED THAT THE ND3 WAS USED IN THE VIDEO INSTEAD OF THE ND5. THE ND5 CAN BE USED JUST AS THE ND3 YOU JUST HAVE TO PURCHASE SOME HIGH DOLLAR SCOPE RINGS. I AM A VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER WITH THIS PURCHASE.
