by Christopher Angelina, from United States, NY Written on December 24, 2014
Installation took about 30 seconds and the sighting was spot-on at 25 feet. Other than the cost, there is nothing bad you can say about this sight. Compatible with all holsters and maintains the factory balance and feel....
Pros:
  • accuracy
  • Installation
Cons:
  • cost
Best Used for:
  • target

Lasermax Guide Rod Laser

by Thomas, from United States, CA Written on October 24, 2014
This laser is somewhat expensive, but if you shop around and watch the Optics Planet web site, one can catch it on sale at better prices or take advantage of coupon discounts. Was easy to install, works well, and doesn't require adjustments for elevation and windage. A big advantage is that is doesn't require buying a special holster to accommodate the laser, like most others that do not attach to the grip. So if have one of the special holster you have ordered (some cost $50 to $100), you don't have to buy another one. I liked the option of not having a device "hanging " externally on the pistol, What you save in not having to buy a special holster makes up for the cost of the laser, so you are just about even....
Best Used for:
  • dry firing, and accuracy in taking shots from odd positions and in very low light

LaserMax for sig 229

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on May 28, 2013
I purchased the laserMax for my Sig 229 Elite Dark. The gun was not cheap and I waited a long time to get one. I plan to carry in a Crossbreed Supertuck and did not want to change the gun's profile with an add on laser. The lasermax was a perfect solution as the laser is contained inside the guide rod and is perfectly alligned with the barrel. There is no adjustment required. I tested 2 hundred rounds and the laser performed up to expectation out of the box. It installed in five minutes and unlike most products these days where the instructions are written in China they were easy to follow.

The laser was delivered in about five days after ordering and did not include the takedown lever. I called Opticsplanet who directed me to the supplier in Rochester, NY. They were extremely helpful and had the missing part to me in 2 days. I have read some complaints about price, however for this quality of product it is a reasonably priced item. I'd rather pay for quality than put up with cheap.
Pros: Excellent customer service, high quality, works inside the pistol
Cons: Switch a little stiff...

Easy to install for 40, semi for 9mm

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, CA Written on January 19, 2013
The laser is bright and easy to see. When you order this for a Sig 229, you get two springs, one for 40 S&W and one for 9mm. Of the two, the 40 is much easier to install because it is a shorter spring. The 9mm might take several (or more) tries. It can be a bit frustrating.
Pros: Works great
Cons: Expensive...

Great Idea

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, OH Written on November 2, 2012
Since it's located right under the barrel it doesn't have the slight issue that laser grips have with left/right POA/POI alignment. Internal location is a great idea but it does limit battery size so battery life may be an issue if you use it a lot or forget to turn it off. I use a Blackhawk CQC holster for my P220 and it actually pushes the switch off when I holster it.
Pros: Internal, uses regular holster and grips.
Cons: none...

Sig 245 .45 cal

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, CA Written on February 14, 2012
The batteries do not last more than a couple of days, meaning there must be some design flaw that permits this to happen. It is not that I leave it on or that it flips into on when I place it in my carrying bag. I know that is not the problem. I have tried to communicate this to you several times. I even ordered new batteries from you, since I was only able to find them at Radio Shack. The ones you sent were to large, so I returned them with a sample that did fit the device. I asked you to send me new proper sized ones, but not dice to date. I would love to have a working device. I do have one of your products in my Colt Mark IV 1911 and it works find and does not have a battery drain problem--so you can make a device that works. Please respond to my plea for help, either new batteries or some advice as to what might be the problem.
Pros: nice if it works
Cons: excessive battery drain...
