An original German scope illuminator is almost unobtainable. This unit would make a fine substitute if it were properly assembled. The metal case is strong and fits well. The wire from the battery terminal to the rheostat is just wrapped around the spring--no solder or crimp--so it can easily fall off. I bought several of these and half of them didn't work at all--one even had a broken rheostat knob. I plan to disassemble the good ones and solder the connections inside. I recommend these to handymen, since there is no viable alternative, but not to others.
Pros: Fits Hensoldt FERO 4x24 scope well
Cons: Internal wires not secured; some units don't work at all...
Would recommend: Yes
