Set screws against top of rail need to be tight. I also drilled and pinned mount using original sight base pin (catches bottom of mount with 1/2 of the pin - but enough to prevent movement). Outstanding setup for a Mosin. Offset gets scope back far enough for a 1" LER scope such as the NCStar to work great from a comfy position. Mine did not require any scope shimming to keep elevation adjustment at it's bottom where it should be with this much recoil. Great mount for a great price.
