Leapers UTG 30mm SWAT 3-12x44 Illumination Enhancing Rifle Scope

by Karl, from United States, TX Written on October 11, 2014
Very clear and bright optics and well defined mil-dot reticle. I have two of these scopes and both are mounted on spring piston air rifles. One of the two scopes has more backlash in the reticle adjustments than the other, but both track well and the adjustments appear repeatable. The side parallax adjustment works as advertised. I have not used the lighted reticle feature. The scope also comes with rings and lens caps. The only slightly negative comment concerns the turret locks; they are made of plastic instead of aluminum, but in the short term have worked without issue. If you shoot field target, you would need a higher magnification scope for ranging purposes, but this scope is fine for hunter field target or just general shooting. As I am using both of mine on Walther LGV springers which have minimum recoil, I can't speak to how well they would hold up on a magnum springer. Now that it is legal to hunt squirrels in Texas with air guns, I'm going to purchase another of these scopes to mount on a .22 caliber pre-charged pneumatic....

Great scope for the money

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, NJ Written on March 4, 2014
This review is a follow up review to my initial impressions of the scope after receiving it. I finally got the opportunity to take this scope out for a ride. It is mounted on a Benjamin Trail .22 caliber pellet gun. I sighted it in at 25 yards. The first shot out of the barrel was about 5 inches low and dead center. After turning the elevation knob several clicks and shooting approximately 4 more rounds in between turns, this scope was dialed in. After that I fired approximately 75 more rounds that day and this scope was on. I was even nailing the bulls eye at 75 yards, which is a feat for any pellet gun. Overall I am extremely pleased with this scope and I am glad I purchased it . This is an amazing scope at this price point. I would purchase another one in a second.
Pros: Easy to sight in, clear
Cons: None...

I ordered this scope from Optics Planet on 1-15 and received it on 1-21. It arrived in larger box padded with brown paper on the ends and airbags surrounding the sides in a pristine state. Hats off to OP for the quick shipping and protective packaging.
Now on to the scope. It comes from the factory in a heavy duty box well packaged securely inside and sealed with factory "UTG" tape to show that the box was never opened after leaving the factory. After removing the scope I found it to be large (14 inches long) and quite solid. It is impressive looking. Also inside the box was 2 quick release Weaver style mounts, 2 flip up lens caps, a lens cleaning cloth, 2 Allen wrenches, an extra screw for the Weaver top mounts, 2 batteries for the illuminated reticle and the instruction booklet.
The instruction booklet is very easy to understand and very informative. I purchased this scope to mount on a Benjamin Trail NP air gun. I mounted the quick release bases to the gun and removed the top rings. I then placed the scope on the mounts and placed the top mounts in place with all 8 screws leaving them loose. I centered the scope to get the eye relief right and rotated the scope to get the reticle vertical and perpendicular and then proceeded to tighten the screws down in the order they instruct you to do in the booklet. It was a breeze. I then took the rifle to the back door and peered out over the yard to check out the optics, zoom, illuminated reticle an...

Excellent Scope

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on July 18, 2013
This scope has very clear optics, is lightweight, and I like the size for a tactical carbine. After 500 rounds the scope holds the zero perfectly. Years ago , all of the small tactical riflescopes were the plain ol' skinny/tiny low power types with dark optics and they were strangely expensive. This leapers scope is light years ahead in technological advancements in every way. I suggest you buy one because it is a great buy for the money.
Pros: Efficiency, features, size, clarity
Cons: None...

Great Scope!!

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on March 11, 2013
This is the 5 Leapers/UTG scope that I own. This scope was put on a 24 heavy barreled AR. The weight of the scope is not a issue on this build, as it's a "sittin" gun, and not something that I will be walking around carrying all day. The optics are clear at all magnifications, the covers work well, the scope has held zero for several hundred rounds so far. I believe that Leapers optics quality is on par with scopes that range in price to at least three times as much as the Leapers brand sells for.
Pros: Good optics, Holds zero, Built like a tank
Cons: Battery cover...

For the price and the second discount, which made it even better.Hard to pass up for the money,I see these monster scopes on these 22 rifles and just wonder how much they paid for them, more then the rifle.More then enough for my 22,and my rifles, when i get rich I might get a better scope.

Not too shabby

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, TX Written on January 23, 2013
Got this for a 7mm Rem Mag. Shot 60 rounds through it after the initial 10 used to sight it in, and it kept the zero. 1/4 MOA and still accurate. Would definitely get it if I had another rifle. Didn't expect the results that I got because of the low price.
Pros: Rugged, great clarity, easy to zero, quality turrets
Cons: Knobs are a little stiff and hard to adjust ...

For my LAR-8 HP

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, WV Written on October 23, 2012
OK let me take a few seconds and give this scope an honest review. I am a quality manager for an aerospace company so my attention to detail is finely honed.
- First off Optics Planet has great customer service. They are currently out of stock with the first scope I ordered but sent me an E-mail suggestion that I may consider this one. I took them up on the offer, $94.00 free shipping!
- The packaging the scope came in was secure and packaged well. No damage to the shipping container
- I examined the form / fit / function of the scope and found zero defects. No blemishes in the finish, no burs on machined metal parts, the lens covers fit snug and the recital is level and straight.
- Read the directions and they seemed through and complete. On a down note the print could be a little larger; even though I have 20/20 the print is still to small for effortless reading. In addition the Range finder card is a waste of print. Ill use my loop to read it later.
- This scope came with a set of rings. I would recommend in the future that the rings can be a choice option. I installed this on my LAR and the scope eye piece is very close to the charging handle making loading difficult. I will have to buy a high set this week.
- The rings that come with it are pretty nice, seem well made.
- All of the adjustments that operate the scope are smooth and expensive feeling. The electronics are easy touch and easier to operate than my Halo Sight I'm not sure I will use the multi color fun...

Hog Scope

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, TX Written on August 28, 2012
This is the best scope money can buy for under $100. The feature list alone on this scope is mind-blowing. If you like to adjust your scope, and you're on a budget, this is a great choice.
Pros: Side Focus, Focus Range, Multi-color Reticle, Rail Rings
Cons: weight, thick crosshairs...
