Decent product at an outstanding price

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, CA Written on February 20, 2012
I bought this light/laser combo for my personal AR-15 and I didn't want to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars for a simple light/laser when its not my primary home defense weapon or a duty weapon. The product feels solid and the light is brighter than I expected. I haven't had a chance to zero the laser yet (no indoor ranges within an hour of me allow rifle shooting, and night shooting around here is frowned upon by the authorities) so I can't say anything about it holding zero or not, but it seems pretty solid so I think it will. The negative side of this purchase is really not that big of a deal. The included pressure switches for the light and laser come with a strip of hook and loop tape to attach to pressure switches to your handguard. The strip is about 3/4 inch long and about 1/4 inch wide. Installation is simple, you peel of the backing of one half of the strip and attach it to the pressure switch, then you take the backing off the other half and apply it to your handguard. Simple process, but I personally don't want to do it that way because I don't want to put tape on my handguard or have a funky piece of velcro sitting on my handguard if I ever switch to a different light/laser or if I just plain old take it off to go shooting. It's simply a matter of personal preference. As far as durability is concerned I think this product is great for home defense, target shooting, etc. but I wouldn't put it on a duty weapon. The battery life of 120 minutes (per the package...

Read instructions carefully: keep laser either parallel or perpendicular to the barrel for easiest zeroing!! Otherwise, just enjoy! Also, brightest light for the money!
Pros: easy to setup/use, pressure pads, good value...

Great cost effective Laser/Light combo

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, GA Written on December 19, 2011
This laser/light combo is a great system to have for an AR-15 platform rifle. I have not tried it on a shotgun, but I would imagine it would work well for that purpose as well. I use the laser for close shots (the ones that are like 10-20ft that your sights are not at all capable of hitting unless special methods are used). The light is great for helping to find blood-trails from game that is shot as the last minutes of the hunting day wane. Both the laser and the light have the option of having a 'pressure switch,' or leaving as a rear button activation. The LED light does have 150 lumens of output, so be careful not to accidentally shine in someone's eyes, as the light can cause negative side effects to those flashed by them.
Pros: Great Price, reliable, easy to install, individual mounting needs
Cons: It is not as great as some of the more expensive lights...

Accessible

Mounted on the bottom of my quad-rail with light directly under and laser tucked up close to the qual-rail on the left side where it's protected. (I'm a righty.) With my hand on the fore-grip (RB-FGRP170B) I can push the flashlight on with my index finger knuckle. Moving my hand under the flashlight, my thumb lines with the laser button to switch it on/off. I like this arrangement better than the pressure pads.
Pros: Light, bright, secure, flexible mounting
Cons: Laser elevation/windage are really touchy...

Very Pleased

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on August 8, 2011
I looked at other more expensive items but after reading other reviews of this item I decided to get it. It is the perfect size, rugged aluminum housing on every component. Feels like a quality peice. The light is very bright and the laser sight has elevation and windage adjustment screws that made it pretty easy to dial in to where I wanted it. Also the laser sight rotates around the light to position where you want it. Only thing to do now is see how well it holds up to use but it appears to be very durable.
Pros: Low Relative Price, Quality Prouct
Cons: if any the extra wires to use the pressure switches, but thats how it is with any setup that uses the switches...

LT-ELP38 Leapers UTG Weapon Flashlight/Laser Combo

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on April 12, 2011
Great for home defense but if you're a serviceman go viridian
Pros: As a gunsmith I'm used to tricky installs and conversions but the LT-ELP38 is very easy to install as long as you know how a screw works. If you don't return the weapon then the light in that order :P, the item is nice and bright for a red laser and can be used during the day, you get pressure pads and switches for both the laser and flashlight so its pretty versatile, locks into position so youre not relying on a goofy little hex to hold your sight-in, slim for all that you're getting, great design all around
Cons: Ive had one break before but im convinced it was a fluke. I've used them on many builds with no real issues but it has to be said that there are some "bad" ones out there. But optics planet has great staff and will help you through the return process if necessary. It is a bit bulky but you you are getting a great price for a good quality laser and 150 lumen flashlight. Not quite military-grade but not quite $300-$400 either....
