Review of the Hi-Lux 1-4x24 mm CMR-AK-762 Tactical Rifle Scope

by Rich, from United States, KS Written on September 5, 2014
This item was delivered well protected in its package. The reticle (green) is easily seen during brighter times during the day. Both lenses very clear, easy to install and use. Very nice scope, especially for the price!...

Well Thought Out Tactical Scope

by papagrizz, from United States, DE Written on August 29, 2014
I am very pleased with the Hi-Lux 1-4x24mm CMR-Ak7.62 Tactical Scope. It is ruggedly well made to with stand the rigors of combat or hunting situations. It comes with outstanding optics that you would find in a more expensive scope. The optic glass gathers in light like a 44-50mm lens. As soon as I saw the reticle I had a feeling that someone with a tactical or military background had influence in its design. It starts out with a 100-300 yd/m circle dot that is low light illuminated out to 400 yds/m. with great eye relief at 1x. Then when you use 2x to 4x you actually have aiming points out to 900 meters. This is great because the AK 7.62x39. round does not have the flat trajectory of the .308/7.62x51 round. The next outstanding feature is the range finding feature on right side which has a series of elongated cross hairs that start of with the avg. height of a male human at 5'9". if he fits in the first cross hair you are at 100yds/m. They follow up with further aiming pts out to 500-600yds. I ended up taking off three other sights on my AK because this one scope had all my tactical needs in one package with a much lighter weight. Thanks Hi-Lux and Optics Planet. Another great find for me....

Very good for the price point

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on December 5, 2013
I purchased this for my 300 Blackout upper and was very happy with it at the range. The reticle is crisp and detailed, with features that put it in the higher range of optics offerings for this type of scope. Aiming points were accurate, and scope adjustments were tactile and reasonable sharp.

A couple points I was not happy with were regarding its use for close shooting. The scope is not a true 1x, so you get some magnification, which is a bit distracting if you're expecting a seamless sight picture using two eyes open. Also, the illumination on the green model washes out in the sun, so don't expect again to do snap drills with this and see a glowing green ring.

So overall this is a great scope and a great fit for the ballistics of the 300 BLK.
Pros: Reticle is excellent, magnification is smooth, adjustments are acceptible and accurate, aiming points are accurate
Cons: Not a true 1x, Illumination washes out in brighter light...

Excellent optic

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, WA Written on October 18, 2013
After using a red dot on my AK, it was very nice to install the CMR and be able to SEE my target. The optical quality of this scope is outstanding. The reticle has some "fine print" that can be difficult to see even if the target is clear, but I found that adjusting the focus brought both into clarity. The turret adjustment procedure is a little different than what you might be used to, but is not difficult. The hardest part for me was keeping the graduated scales in place while adjusting the zero. I found that lifting the turret knob slightly made it easier, something not addressed in the manual. Speaking of the manual, it's well worth reading, particularly the discussions about the reticle. You have several options for ranging with this scope, and understanding them is critical to getting the most out of it. I have mine mounted in a MI 30mm side rail mount which positions the scope very low over the bore which I like. For me (big 6'3" guy), with the scope fully forward in the rings, eye relief is adequate with my SLR-101's intermediate stock length, but just barely. A NATO length stock would improve that situation. I also found the eye relief less forgiving than I was expecting. Overall though, I'm VERY pleased. When your biggest problem is that the objective lens is too close to the rear iron sight to allow the lens cap to flip up, you know you made a good choice.
Pros: Outstanding glass, well thought out reticle, zero stop turrets
Cons: quirky zero procedure, less forgivi...

This scope is awesome, period!!!!!

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on February 22, 2013
This scope is perfect for the AK. If you want to run it as low as possible to the receiver I recommend MI 30mm side scope mount. The clarity of the glass is on par with anything you would expect to pay $700 to $1500 for. The etched, mil-dot, illuminated reticle well, WOW. This reticle, with its quick ranging system, has"battle ready" written all over it. For any AK nut this is a very capable scope.
Pros: too many to list
Cons: wish it had a bit more magnification, say 1x-5x...

Great

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on December 22, 2012
I bought this along with the burris mounts and love it. It is great and durable. I had to through my rifle in the back of my pick up and works great. Really love the crisp picture and the zoom on this scope. I would definately buy again. Also I love the fact that they etched the cross hairs in so I don't have to have the green dot on
Pros: Green dot, zoom, durable
Cons: non so far...

Way above expectations

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on December 14, 2012
Great product for the money. Optics viewed in local store vs trijicon is not worth double the price(although the trijicon has obviously clearer optics). The illuminated reticle seems perfect for my needs. Only reason this didn't get a 5 star down the line is the first one arrived with a slanted reticle(by about 15 degrees) when the scope was installed level. But with opticsplanet's awesome customer service, they made an exchange with no questions asked. Haven't had the chance to shoot my 300blk with this, but look forward to it!
Pros: Reticle, firm adjustments, well built
Cons: none so far ...
