Over all this seems to be a well made, quality scope considering it has the limitations as advertised such as 3/4 inch tube and 10 foot field of vision at 100 yards. This is not an issue on the quality of the scope. For the use intended, this riflescope is top notch.

Cons:  They wont mount correctly

They tell you all you need is the scope and mount. WRONG the scope slides and moves and the continually sell you more parts to "fix the problem", that dont fit properly and dont fix the problem. Its not even set up to shoot in under 200 yards, you have to buy a different front mount for that. These scopes are and were designed for high power rifles, yet with their design, you have to buy more parts due to the recoil. Folks, guns have recoil, Geeeeeeeee! Wish i had never started this failed project.

Heres my hi-lux nightmare Wanted a buffalo gun with a Malcolm scope so here how it has gone. i had located a 1871 buffalo classic and always wanted the 1800 look to go shooting. note i am not new to shooting but have shooting all types of guns for over 50 years. 1-contacted customer service as discussed the want that i had and discussed both the long scope and also the 18" scope. was told that the best best was the malcolm because the 18" required going to a gunsmith and have the gun drilled and tapped and was assured the malcolm was perfectly and easily assembeled but only needed a different mount for the H&R 1871 Buffalo in 45-70, other than that everthing needed was complete. being satisfied with their response i went and bought the gun. 2-ordered scope and mount, found i needed the elevation adjustment mount also 3-received the scope, mount and elevation adjustment, was missing gun mounting screws. called service and they said they would send them but would take a week or so. 20 phone ...

I wish to add a part two review of the Malcolm Scope that is now mounted on my Uberti Sharps 45/70. I got my scope mounted by a well known local gunsmith here where I live who is familiar with the mounting process of Malcolms. After four long months due to his backlog I received my rifle back and I took it to the range this past weekend. Very, very nice. I was shooting 1/4 MOA's at 300 yards with this scope. The rifle and scope is capable of a 1,000 yard shot easily. However, after about 15 shots I had to quit shooting as the scope moved forward due to heavy recoil. It is a MUST that when you order this scope, you must order also the Tube Locking Collar to prevent the scope from sliding forward. I learned the hard way and it is a shame that Leatherwood Optics DOES NOT include the TLC in with the scope. You do receive all other hardware: base, dovetail fitting and hardware. For the money you pay I feel you should receive the TLC. Also on a 32" inch barrel DO NOT get the 7" extension. It ...

Received the scope today and after careful inspection, this scope suits my needs. Will be mounted on my Sharps 45/70. If you don't know what you are doing when mounting it. Don't!!!! Spend the extra $85.00 to get it professionally mounted by a gunsmith who KNOWS about Creedmores or Malcolms mounted on period rifles. Save yourself headaches and money by doing so as well The scope is very nice the brass ends accent the scope itself. The eye relief is generous at 4.5" to 5" The mounts seem to be machined well. If you purchase a 32" length scope do order your 7" extension to make it fit your rifle with a 32" barrel. Craftsmanship overall is well. For the money this scope is quite nice. Planet Optics offers a good deal and is quick to ship. It arrived in a industrial shipping tube and was well packed. It will be a few weeks before I get the Sharps back but will include a p.s. after I shoot with the Malcolm. Hope this helps all.
