When I purchased my Leica M9 I included a 50mm lens as my first Leica accessory and it's served me well as an all purpose lens. I knew however, even as a stark rangefinder amateur, that a shorter lens would be best for landscape photography. I looked at shorter lenses than the 28mm but after noticing they would require an additional viewfinder, I ruled them out since I prefer to travel with as little equipment as possible. This lens suits my purposes perfectly with no noticeable distortion.
