Great Scope

by ZCF, from United States, TX Written on April 14, 2015
This has been a fantastic spotting scope for south Texas hunting. Has helped tremendously with judging long range targets. This scope has the quality glass i expect from Leupold. The housing feels very rugged while maintaining an acceptable weight for long hauls....

A little disappointed

by SA TC, from United States, TX Written on April 6, 2015
Let me begin by saying that I am a Leupold fan. In addition to this spotting scope, I am the proud owner, of three other Leupold products: two rifle scopes and a pair of binoculars. And while I am extremely happy with those products, I can’t say the same for the Leupold SX-1 15-45X60 Kit.

My first disappointment occurred as I opened the shipping box. The carry case, although it was thoroughly packed and wrapped in plastic, was broken. And it was broken, where the carrying handle meets the case, rendering the carrying handle useless.

My next disappointment came when I tried to locate the serial number, as part of the product registration process. I couldn’t find it; even with the assistance of a Leupold technician. It wasn’t until I read a review, stating that the serial number was printed in black ink, on a black surface, that I was able to locate it. I had to use a flashlight. The serial number was preceded by the word “China”.

However, this purchase was not a complete disappointment. When I did a side by side comparison, to another Chinese made scope (20-60X60), the Leupold optics were superior, at the highest magnifications. In other words, I found the Leupold's 45 to be clearer than the other’s 60.

I’m still a Leupold fan; I’ll just be a little more discerning, with my next purchase....

SX-1 Ventana review

by Muzzleloader, from United States, MA Written on January 23, 2015
I have been researching spotting scopes for some time now.
I wanted a good weather proof scope for a decent price. This certainly has met my goal. I knew Leupold was a good name and I like buying American whenever possible. I thought that I might not be able to get such a good scope in my price range but thanks to both Leupold and Optics Planet I did. I wanted this scope for mostly range work but can see many other uses for it as well like bird watching or watching boats on a lake or the ocean. Have not got to the outdoor range yet due to winter conditions but am looking forward to the spring and being able to see accurately how I am doing at a 100 yards....

Great scope fr the money

by Gman, from United States, WI Written on December 30, 2014
I bought this scope to use at the rifle range to see targets at 100 and I am able to see 22 caliber holes easily. The eye relief is pretty forgivingand the focus and magnification dials are very smooth. The only negative that see is that the lens caps don't stay on very well at all....

Just right for the price

by TJH, from United States, TN Written on December 17, 2014
I have not been nor am I disappointed with Leopold Products. This Scope is no exception. Good clarity all the way to the edges. It comes with a Neoprene cover that will offer minimal protection from bumps. I plan to make a wood box suitable really protect it....
Pros:
  • Clarity
Cons:
  • None

Spotting scope

by Nick, from United States, CA Written on October 4, 2014
This is an excellent spotting scope, in my opinion. I am using it for my California deer and bear hunt this year, but Leupold puts out great products, so I expect never to have to buy a spotting scope again. It's light weight and compact, but still has great magnification and resolution. You kind of need the tripod for longer ranges though....

Great Scope for the money. great warranty!

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, OR Written on February 24, 2014
I really enjoy using this scope. I feel confident in spotting deer and elk that i will be able to make a good decision to hunt a specific animal. The clarity of the glass is really good. And images stay crisp up to 30-35x. I would recomend to anyone who wants a durable, well priced scope.
Pros: price, clear and crisp, durable
Cons: A bit bulky. focus knob in awkward place....

I am very happy with the kit because I got it on a great deal... Paid only abour 60 more than just scope was selling for... In hindsight, would have just got the scope.... CAnt beat the scope for performance/vale out there...
Pros: Very Clear & bright scope.. Worth the $$$
Cons: Rest of kit not worth it...

Nice scope for the money

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on May 15, 2013
The scope has great optics at this price point. Easy to use with good eye relief. The tripod in the kit is near useless. Very shaky with very limited height. This would be good for a table top on the range, but for wildlife viewing, not so good. The case is sized for the larger 20-60x6- scope, so for this unit, its a bit large.
Pros: Great optice for the money.
Cons: The kit is not worth the extra $....
