Leupold Alumina Threaded Lens Covers

by redrock, from United States, AZ Written on December 23, 2014
We had been using the Butler Creek Flip up covers and had no luck with them, they do not fit well and they open when you withdraw your rifle from a case or scabbard. I bought these threaded covers and they are very well made and the fit is PERFECT. The Arizona country side is dusty and dirty and loaded with rocks, you nee all the protection on your lenses that you can get. At first I thought that it would take too much time to get the front cover off. Wrong, wow it un screws quickly and you can make your shot. The fit is almost like it is waterproof it fits so well. These are the only caps to have for storage, travel or hard use....
Pros:
  • well made and fits correctly
  • Hard Material
  • fit is perfect
  • easy on or off
  • Protects the scope lens
Cons:
  • A little pricey
Best Used for:
  • Travel
  • Storage
  • hard use
  • dusty dirty climates

All you need

Clean, easy, simple, inexpensive. Works well for when you open your caps and leave them open. Might not be the thing for intermittent rain when you will be opening and closing or keeping the covers on until needed....

Leupold Alumina Lens Covers

by DON, from United States, OK Written on August 15, 2014
Leupold makes a good product but you would think that they would include a set of cheap plastic lens covers with a $750 scope. These are very well made lens covers as far as CNC mass produced can be. It takes less than a couple of minutes to make one of these covers. They list for something like $21 but I got these on sale here at Optics Planet. They are adequate for what they are designed for. For tactical scopes the brass medallion should be black. The medallions should be indexable so that the "L" logos would line up. Small complaints for an otherwise adequate product....

Leupold Alumina Threaded Lens Covers

You know the thing about Leupold is that they make a really fine scope, but you would think that they would at least put a cheap set of plastic lens caps in with a $750 scope. I would not have bought these if Optics Planet had not had them on sale! The thing I DON'T like about them is the fact that the little brass logos are not indexable. These things retail for $21 and you cant get the get the "L" to line up. A small complaint but then Leupold likes to tell you what a superior product they make....

Just buy these

these are top shelf lens covers and are well worth the tiny bit extra you pay. They are well machined and look good on my Leupold scope.
Pros: high quality

Nice product at a reasonable price

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, NV Written on July 1, 2013
I ordered this lens cover for my 3-9x40 VX1 Scope. Leupold does not sell these direct and sent me to Optix Planet. Nobody seemed to know which ones to buy so I just ordered to see which was best, knowing O/P's return policy was ok. It turned out that the 940 and Std. EP were the correct covers and work fine. The threads are quite fine and sometimes hard to get on, but you get good protection for your lens. I also ordered a pair of the 950's (2) for my Leupold 10x50 binoculars, but they did not fit and have to keep using the cheap plastic covers that came with the binoculars. The binoculars have the same 50mm threads, but I could not use the covers as the rubber armoring prevents their installation. Hopefully Leupold and O/P will improve their internal information for their customer service staffs on these fine covers.
Pros: fits nice, light, well made
Cons: hard to find out which one you need...
