Excellent Binoculars that wont break the bank

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on July 25, 2007
These are an outstanding pair of binoculars for the price, which puts them in the midrange bracket. I rate them clearly ahead of anything else at this price level and they are way better than many binoculars costing twice as much. They are Japanese made, waterproof and construction quality is first class. Image quality on axis and across 85% of the FOV is outstanding, up with the premium Japanese and German products. The images are very sharp and clear with excellent neutral colour reproduction. They are very small and light and easy to use and handhold for long periods. Eye relief is very good and I have no trouble using them with my eyeglasses on. Field of View is fairly narrow but I didn't buy them for that and it is a compromise made to gain eye relief and EOF sharpness in an affordable package. Those things are more important to me than a large FOV. The one minor complaint and it is not a concern to me, is that they vignette slightly at the EOF under low light conditions. I believe this could be due to slightly undersized prisms, which I feel may be an ergonomic necessity to fit them into the smallest lightest package possible, of porro prism design with center focus. I have used many premium binoculars from Zeiss, Leica, Fujinon, Nikon and Swarovski. These aren't quite at that level but are very close for a lot less money. On axis and across > 85% of the FOV, they are superb. Very highly recommended. I love them.
