I use this tripod with my Leupold HD spotting scope. This tripod was designed for hunters and guides who may walk miles. Its sturdy and lightweight and quick to set up. Don't expect it to perform like a full size tripod. It fits in my backpack with scope, just what it was designed to do! When in the field you don't need a lot of bells and whistles slowing you down.

I bought this tripod to use with my new Alpen spotting scope and Alpen camera adapter because it was advertised on the same web page as a good match. I am using my old Slik tripod instead. The Leupold is hard to maneuver and lock into place. It has a ball in socket head with a small thumb screw locking collar. Bottom line is that it tilts every which way and you have to reach a long way to lock it in place when you are standing behind the scope and camera. I have gone back to my Slik pan head with a nice long handle that twists to lock the head in place. It is much easier to reach and aim.

it's a compact scope , I wish I would have read that , very hard to adjust w/ such a heavy scope , price kind of on the high end for such a small tripod
