Leupold Mark AR MOD 1 6-18X40

by Smitty, from United States, PA Written on August 30, 2014
This is a great product for the money. I own 3 now and shoot long distance 500 yards and higher. Works as well as more expensive scopes I have including a Mark 4 Leupold and a March, both well over $2,000 dollars. Most of us shoot on warm sunny days and you can't use much more than 18 power without distortion and mirage. You can own 5 of these for the cost of one and it will do the job for most people....

Clear glass, good amount of features

by Nick, from United States, IN Written on August 29, 2014
This was my first leupold product and it had lived up to the expectations thus far. Clear glass, nice tatical feel to the turrets, seems well made. Lack of zero stops in a negative but for a beginning shooter as my self it is a great start....

Leupold Mark AR MOD 1 6-18x40mm P5 Dial Riflescope w/ Adj Objective, Matte Black, Fine Duplex Reticle 115393

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, FL Written on October 29, 2013
Leupold says the internal parts of these are the same as the VX-2 level model, making them an even better value. When the rifle is zeroed, remember to loosen and retighten the knobs in their zero position. It is easy to accidentally turn them unintentionally. If they are set to your zero at their zero, you can always turn them back to the zero mark. Otherwise you have to remember where they ended up when the rifle was zeroed. Excellent product, I have several of these.
Pros: Excellent optics for the price, has CDS feature to customize to the load and gun, plenty of light, fully adjustable in E and W "quickly"
Cons: User needs to remember to zero the knobs after zeroing the rifle because knobs can be turned accidentally during regular handling, in/out of case, etc.....

Outstanding Scope

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, TX Written on August 16, 2013
Put this scope (MIL dot) on an M1A National Match. Added a custom 7.62 turret from Leupold Custom Shop. The turret adjustments shoots right on out to 500 yards. (Would work the same on a 7.62 AR) One draw back is the turret stops at 675 yards (one rotation). The zero stop feature is very nice though. It is good to have both the turret and the reticle both in MILs. Strongly recommend this scope.
Pros: Clear view, excellent a low light
Cons: Needs more eye relief...

Does everything right for the price

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, MD Written on August 6, 2013
I have many Leupolds and have never been disappointed. Had one about 25 years old develop a problem, and Leupold replaced it with a better scope, no questions asked. The mil dot reticle is very handy for range estimation if you have a fair idea of the size of your target. Space between dots is 3.3 inches at 100 yards, 6.6 at 200, etc.
Pros: Good optics, easy adjustments, availability of dials for virtually any cartridge in addition to 223 Remington, mil dot reticle
Cons: none, for me...

Leupold Mark AR 6-18x40 P5 CDS Mil Dot

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, FL Written on July 19, 2013
This was installed with the Leupold IMS mounting system. The combo is awesome in performance, and looks good too. Easy to adjust to your eyebox. I had a CDS made for my load and that is priceless. Takes all the guesswork out of changing ranges if you properly estimate the distance. If you get the Mil Dot reticle, it is ok even though the CDS is in MOA. All you need to do is pay attention to the center of the crosshairs when the knob is set for the range, just like with the Fine Duplex reticle. I mounted a Leupold Deltapoint upper left of the eyepiece for close range, using a Warne angle minimount. Outstanding scope product and mount system, and very reasonable pricing.
Pros: Top solution for a long range AR10 gun. CDS option is outstanding feature.
Cons: A little too much scope for closer ranges, but you can add a reflex unit on the side for that....

Nice Scope

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on April 8, 2013
Bought this for my AR, and after reading the manual I figured I had to do this on my own, or consult a store for help. Another store had the 1" mounts and so I got it mounted on the gun, and it *just* fit between the buis components. So close it scrapes the real sight when not locked in. (I'll be removing that tonight).

So I had to figure out at the range the elevation and L/R clicks, and nothing in the hated little manual helped. It was experimenting until I did get it centered for 100 yards, and then the gun was just stupid accurate.

In retro, I should have gone with the 50, but it's all a matter of $$$ :) I'm plenty happy with this bad boy and have a Vortex Red Dot mounted on top of the scope. For those interested, look at TNVC for one of those mounts. It was pretty hard for me to find.
Pros: Price, Clarity
Cons: Manual, length...
