Pros: Allows quick detachment of scope with a return to zero; Allows different scopes to be used for different activities
Cons: The bayonet mounts are a bit stiff because of the tight tolerances which is probably a good thing for returning the scope to its zero point but makes removing and reinstalling a bit more difficult than for the Talley Rings for example
Would recommend: yes

Combined with a Leupold Collimeter bore sight to record a zero, this system allows for interchangeability of scopes between similr rifles. Be cognizant of the fact that some of these have differnt length screws for the mounts and make sure that the screws go where they are supposed to. The shorter screws go up front!

Scope stays near zero after removing. It's a great feature if you have to remove the scope to store your rifle.

All above rates are because of the following: I spoke with both Leupold and your Customer service and was told that the product that I ordered would work with my rifle and had it shipped to my gunsmith. My gunsmith informed me that it was no going to work and that I bought the wrong base. I travel for my work and could not return item within your allotted time.Poor product knowledge and a limited return time causes me to NOT ever work with you again.

I own over 15 pairs of these mounts. I am pleased with their performance in preserving zero sight inup to 300 yards. The mounts allow me to travel with the scopes separte from the rifle thus preserving the fine glass optics from the baggage handlers. The system allows me to sight in a backup scope in event the unexpected accident occurs in the field and far away from home. The system also allows me to use my iron sights when necessity calls. I boresight in back yard, use loktite on the mounts, clean the screws with acetone before mounting rings. I shoot up to 375 Mags in this system. No issues with recoil after 10 years of use. Some of the products hve such tigh tolerances that turning the levers are not fingr friendly, so I use my leatherman's pliers after covering the lever with a thick cloth, shirttail, etc. i have even used a plastic tooth brush to move the levers into and out of lock. Sometimes a good lubricant helps, but beware of getting them too loose!!!

As a scope base this was my 1st choice on a high end Sauer 202 with two barrels, 7mm Rem Mag and .300 Win Mag. Since the rifle is disassembled and stored in a travel case it made sense to be able to remove the scope. Leupold makes a set of matching rings in both 1" and 30mm in a number of finishes and heights. After success with mounting a Swarovski 4-10x50 I also added another setup with an Aimpoint Red Dot. Can you see how many possibilities that this adds ? Have also found that I can use these same scopes on another rifle (Happens to be another Sauer but not necessary) simply by jotting down the windage and elevation numbers. The added advantage using the quick detach is being able to remove a high dollar value optic instead of allocating it to just one weapon. Shoot straight and be safe !

Having several medium and heavy calibre firearms in my gun room I have found that the pin system is realy useless. All the gun makers in years past had a wedge (dovetail) system for mounts and rings that had locating lugs and locks that in my opinion was perfect for my requirements. Now I have wasted a couple of hundred dollars trying to set up an interchange ability of scopes on my .338 winMag and am still not happy with what the market puts out these days, All the designers should look at getting away from aluminium and back to steel and for gods sake get rid of thoes useles chunky warne weaver style mount they are realy bad with some aperature sights and cut out the perfect circle
