I was very excited when I ordered this range finder. I have a few other Leupold products and their glass has always meet my exceptions until now.
This may not be Leupold's fault but right out of the box the lower optic (the curved one that I think the laser comes out of) had many light scratches on it. I think this is due to the plastic protective wrapper the range finder is packaged in rubbing on that lens in transit. Not sure on that, but I was bummed out non the less to unwrap my new goodie and discover this issue.
I was pleased with the weight and set up of the unit. I wear glasses, and while not coke bottle glasses I had a hard time finding the correct focus with this unit. It would either be focused on what I was ranging and I could not read the range display or reverse, I could read the range display on yardage but was having a hard time seeing what I was trying to range.
Last off and the main reason I returned the RX-600i is because of the loud noise it makes when pressing the range button on top. It was so loud I could hear it 20 yards away. I don't want to take the chance of getting busted by a prize buck because I'm trying to range him and he hears those clicking sounds. It sounds just like clicking a ball point pen.
Bow hunters I would strongly suggest getting a different range finder.
I did try the RX-1000 in the store and go figure, no clicking sounds when pressing the range button. Like the old saying goes. You get what you pay for.
