Szumi's Review of Leupold RX-1000i TBR Compact Digital Laser Rangefinder with DNA
I've been wanting a range finder for a number of years. The TBR, feature using angle measurement seemed useful or at least neat to have. I may bow hunt again some day.
My issue with this unit and likely with other units is the OLED display is optimized to look sharp at the typical ranges you can laser in the store. Once you get out in the field, you have to compromise between focusing on what you are trying to measure and seeing the display. I'm 56, my eyes don't do the multi focus trick anymore. Younger users may have no problems dealing with this.
I sent my unit back to Leupold complaining of a fuzzy display. They sent it back saying it is fine, no problems found.
To the products credit, I've measured chickens, pigs, turkeys and rams at both small bore and high power distances and sizes and it was able to differentiate between the critters and the berm behind them.
So I gave it a 4. Can't give it a 4.2 on this site.
