I was torn between this model and a monocular.Either the Leupold RX-IV on the high end $443.99 or the Nikon 1200 8359 Gold for $399.00. I tested it's close range accuracy on a football field from 5 to 120 yards goal post to goal post. It was exact to the foot. Then on to the golf range accurate to 320 yards. Then I found a straight quiet piece of highway and got strong accurate returns off the evenly spaced light posts between 500 to 850 yards. Then the road curved ending the consitant spacing. Most of my shooting will be between 200 and 800 yards tops. So 1500 yards is beyond my expertise but I wanted a powerful laser with good non reflective returns. There is no pivot point or thumb dial to adjust spacing of your eyes or to focus.I suggest to pull them all the way apart then slowly squeeze them together until the dislay appears the brightest in both eyes. You must focus each lense independantly as stated in the manual. If you just need a range finder then just buy one of the monoculars I mentioned. You will save a couple of hundred dollars. If you need a tool to scan your surroundings for targets and don't want to carry a separate set of binoculars. Then go for the extra bucks so you dont have to spend the day squinting. These binoculars have great low light performance. Besides hunting and target shootong I use them on my boat and on the golf course which is over kill big time. I even used them to roughly survey property diamentions in Florida. With 2x2 card board targets. With the built in compass I could easly tell the orientation of the property as well. Looking for that southern exposure. You need to practice with these before you go in the field to get familar with all the features. Even go to the track and from a few hundred yards away range some hot female joggers as moving targets. That should hold your attention. Just from behind though dont want to hit them with the laser in the face or eyes. Happy Hunting!!!
