Typical outstanding Leupold quality

by oldpink, from United States, IN Written on December 9, 2014
I bought this scope to mount on my beloved Marlin 39A, and I love it.
I had for years been using a very cheap Bushnell, but I just didn't feel right using it on such a magnificent made American rifle, so I finally saved up and bought an appropriate American made scope for it, and it's just right.
Yes, if I had my druthers, I would have bought one of their top of the VX-3 scopes, but those cost over twice as much as this, and they're parallax adjustments are much better suited to centerfire rifles than for a rimfire, so I went with this.
And while this one certainly doesn't have quite the smoothness of adjustment and finish that my superb Vari-X3 (the precursor to the current VX-3 line) scope I have mounted on my Ruger M77 has, this scope is still very nice.
This one does have something that my older Vari-X3 doesn't have: finger adjustable turrets.
The size is also nice, making it a nice balance of usability and weight, while not hampering the balance and handling of my Marlin.
The power adjustment is smooth and stays in place, the finish is nicely polished with a deep blue-black anodization, the clicks for the turrets are nice and positive (although not quite with the Swiss watch like precision that my older top of the line Leupold has), and the eyepiece lock ring ensures the focus stays put.
The glass is also clear and bright, but (as expected) not quite as pristine as the glass on my older Leupold, but still much better than my old Bushnell had or many other much mor...

Bought for Ruger 10/22 Takedown

by Bubba, from United States, TX Written on December 1, 2014
Very pleased with this Scope, the quality is beyond expectation. This scope fits the gun perfectly and still allows you to store in takedown bag. After a long search for which optic to buy for my application this scope was the best all around choice. Well worth the money....

I'm so 'done' with cheapo glass

by Rickamo, from United States, CA Written on November 2, 2014
If you don't mind cheapo glass, you can get a competitors scope for much less money. It will probably get the job done too. But if you are like me, you will regret it at some point in the future and end up buying the better quality piece to replace it. Now where's all that savings???
If you have a sweet rimfire like a Browning T-Bolt or a signature piece like a Ruger 77/22 or a Remington pump 572 then it deserves some fine glass designed for a rimfire. This is it, clear & bright, with a precision reticle for tiny .22 holes in paper or pests. It's short and properly proportioned for a slim rimfire receiver & barrel. The bell is not overly large so its easy to mount in low/medium rings for a correct cheek-weld. I don't consider this 'overkill' on a value semi-auto carbine like a bread-and-butter Ruger 10/22. The power range is entirely appropriate for the rimfire rifle. (Here's a tip to help new shooters build skills quickly; start them off on a non-self-loading rifle with a scope set on no more than 4 power) I own 2 of these models and one of the fixed 4X models (which I especially like since it's slightly shorter).
Buy with confidence....
Pros:
  • Excellent quality & value
  • smaller than competitor's offerings
Cons:

Great scope

by Matt, from United States, PA Written on October 9, 2014
Great scope for my ruger 10/22 target tactical. Magnification works great. Lenses are nice and clear. In my opinion this scope is a great deal for the money even though I wish it had a little higher magnification. I would definetly buy again for another rifle....

Great Scope

by Ron, from United States, IN Written on August 31, 2014
I purchase the Leupold VX-1 2-7x28mm .22 Caliber Rimfire Rifle Scope and Leupold Rimfire No-Tap 1in Tube Ring Mount for my Winchester model 9422. The scope mounted easily and solid to my rifle. The scope image is bright and sharp. I sighted it in at 50 yards which was very easy with the 1/4 MOA clicks. The image is plenty bright for daytime use. I haven't tried it at first light or twilight. I am very happy with the scope and the service from Optics Planet. I would recommend this to any of my friends....

Hits every target

by Chris, from United States, FL Written on August 18, 2014
Fantastic scope. Mounted on a Browning T-Bolt with a Weaver base/rings set. Perfect fit, smallish size appropriate for a .22. The scope is light and presents a very sharp/clear image. Really like the duplex reticle. I can't imagine a better setup and highly pleased with the results of my trip to the range to regulate the sights. Very happy camper....

Great little scope

by Ed, from United States, NH Written on August 12, 2014
I ordered this through OpticsPlanet's Amazon store, because I had received a bunch of Amazon cards for X-mas. I couldn't be happier with the quality of this product. Works great on my 10/22, no complaints whatsoever. I have it mounted in a set of Leupold Rifleman Low Rings (#56524) and it hugs the 10/22 nicely. Crisp and clear, have it zero'd at 50 yards and haven't had to touch it since. I now want to replace my 3-9x40 Nikon on my Ruger American Rimfire with one of these....
Pros:
  • Lightweight
  • compact
  • It's a Leupold
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • 10/22 or other Rimfire rifle

Leupold Light weight Rimfire, 2-7x28 scope

by WSP, from United States, AZ Written on July 30, 2014
I have 5 of these scopes. You can not buy a better scope for the money. They are clear, adjust well and hold zero. If you have a decent rimnfire, why put cheap glass on it? I use these scopes on three CZ's , Browning T Bolt, Ruger International, and others. They are perfectly sized for the platform. Provide sufficient magnification for any .22 rimfire needs and do not over power or burden the rifle. They mount easily, have sufficient eye relief, adjust well and work! When they are on sale you save a few bucks, but they are worth saving for. You can not hit what you can not see, and Leupold makes sure you are on target every time!...

The perfect Ruger 10/22 scope

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, CA Written on May 3, 2014
As with my other Leupold scopes, this one is a quality product. Solidly built with nice optics and good eye relief, this scope is perfect for our family's Ruger 10/22 plinker gun. We matched it with Leupold's quick disconnect rings, and the whole package works great. It's nice having a brand you can count on from the high-end all the way to the modestly priced. Highly recommended.

Cons: Very well constructed, good value...
