I bought this scope to mount on my beloved Marlin 39A, and I love it.
I had for years been using a very cheap Bushnell, but I just didn't feel right using it on such a magnificent made American rifle, so I finally saved up and bought an appropriate American made scope for it, and it's just right.
Yes, if I had my druthers, I would have bought one of their top of the VX-3 scopes, but those cost over twice as much as this, and they're parallax adjustments are much better suited to centerfire rifles than for a rimfire, so I went with this.
And while this one certainly doesn't have quite the smoothness of adjustment and finish that my superb Vari-X3 (the precursor to the current VX-3 line) scope I have mounted on my Ruger M77 has, this scope is still very nice.
This one does have something that my older Vari-X3 doesn't have: finger adjustable turrets.
The size is also nice, making it a nice balance of usability and weight, while not hampering the balance and handling of my Marlin.
The power adjustment is smooth and stays in place, the finish is nicely polished with a deep blue-black anodization, the clicks for the turrets are nice and positive (although not quite with the Swiss watch like precision that my older top of the line Leupold has), and the eyepiece lock ring ensures the focus stays put.
The glass is also clear and bright, but (as expected) not quite as pristine as the glass on my older Leupold, but still much better than my old Bushnell had or many other much mor...
