Leupold VX-2 Ultralight - A Grat Scope for 22LR Rifles

by AndyBrian, from United States, TX Written on April 7, 2015
This 3-9x33mm scope from Leupold is perfect for 22LR rifles. It's light, well-built, and easy to mount and use. While there are high-magnification models available from Leupold and other manufacturers (and I have an older 4-12x50), I found 3-9x33 being the best overall balance for a light rifle, especially for training purposes. Leupold's quality shines out of the box!...
Pros:
  • accuracy
  • Weight Distribution
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Training/casual shooting

Leupold VX-2 Ultralight not strong enough

by Erie Jack, from United States, CO Written on March 30, 2015
I tried this scope on an RWS model 54 in 22 cal. This is a magnum springer air rifle, but Leupold assured me that the scope was a good match. It gave good groups for about 100 shots. The next 3 groups shifted up and right about 1 inch per group of 5 shots at 21 yards. My guess is that the elevation and windage were not holding. I tried several other scopes, including the one Nikon recommends, and three UTG/Accushot scopes from Leapers. All of the scopes shift due to the high recoil of the model 54. I used an integral mount from RWS on most of the scopes, but I found that separate mount and rings did not make a difference when properly installed. A typical pattern is 2 or 3 shots in one hole, then a different hole for the next 2 or 3 shots. On the best scopes, it often shifts back to the previous hole for the next 2 or 3 shots. The biggest difference among the scopes was the distance between those holes, the best usually being 1/4 inch at 21 yards. The Nikon and Leapers scopes do not shift consistently in one direction, as the Leupold did. The most consistent scopes I have tried so far are the Accushot 10X50 and the Accushot 3-12X44. These are 30mm tubes "built on the True Strength platform". I think the Leupold could have been the best, but the elevation and windage do not retain their settings.
I don't like the Leupold objective adjustment. I prefer the objective adjustment on the side where it's easier to reach and easier to adjust. The Leapers have an 80mm wheel to make i...

Pros:
  • Leupold clarity
  • Tight groups while the settings held
Cons:
  • The objective is too small to gather light well
  • The settings do not hold on a magnum springer air rifle
  • I don't like the objective adjustment on the front

Great Scope

by TC, from United States, CA Written on March 28, 2015
This scope was mounted on a CZ 455 Varmint using Leupold medium no tap rings. As usual Leupold product won't let you down. It's very clear and sharp and does what you expect a quality scope to do. Also as important it looks like it was made just for the CZ. Try it you won't regret it....

Looks right at home on my CZ 455

by Neverlan, from United States, IN Written on February 10, 2015
I bought the medium Leupold rings for the CZ 455 that fit perfectly on the 11mm groove on the receiver. Everything lined up as it should giving a nice cheekweld and ample eye relief. Since I did not have a laser bore sight, I removed the bolt and lined up by looking through the open chamber. It was pretty easy from there just a few clicks of elevation and windage to be right on target....

  • Clarity, light transmission

This my go to scope for back pack, timbered, mountain hunting.
Low profile, light weight, compact length, adequate magnification and good warranty.
Better now with click adjustments vs. friction (older versions.)
This is my fifth in twenty years, with my first one and the rest still going strong....

Leupold VX-2 3-9x33mm Ultralight Rifle Scope

by webwalker, from United States, NC Written on January 4, 2015
This Leopold scope has proven to be very dependable and durable despite it being extremely light weight. It has a very fast focus ability that work very well in most hunting conditions. The ablility to hold zero through rigurious use has proven to be very dependable like the majority of my Leopold scopes. I also value the Leopld waranty with the ultra-light scope.

The only negative I will have to say would be the 33mm bell housing in low light conditions. It still works very well, but has its limitations....

Leupold VX-2 3-9x33mm Ultralight

Leupold quality as usual. Crystal clear, and adjustable objective brings target into focus at less than 10 yards. Leupold makes more scopes to fit any shooters needs, from tactical, to target and hunting or personal defense. This scope is turning my squirrel rifle into a target rifle for smallbore competition....
