vx6 1-6, firedot illuminated

by carl lee, from United States, CA Written on March 5, 2015
initially I got the vcog for my scar 17; however, vcog weights almost 2 lbs and although it has great illumination system, I decided to try the vx6 as well; i ordered a larue mount ( the lightest possible), and together with vx6 scope, the total weight was about 21oz; I took the rifle with the scope to the range few weeks ago, and I had fun; the scope performed great at a 100 yards lane and at a 50 yards as well; had to adjust the elevation with turrets depending on ammo ( was shooting some xm80 and some tula ammo); overall pretty happy with setup; it is light and very usable with scar all the way to 300-400 yards i am sure, plus the entire setup is like 9 lb only, so is perfect weight for the 308; in addition i saved a $1000 vs the vcog;
overall great scope for the price and does well at 1x as well...

The VX6, a truly remarkable scope

by Musashi, from United States, FL Written on February 24, 2015
Leupold has hit a home run with this scope. I went with the Duplex reticle and am very pleased. The FireDot ,coupled with the Duplex function, makes it possible to pick up the target amazingly fast, particularly in low light situations. The intensity of the red dot can be adjusted easily as needed. All this in addition to the custom CDS dial which you can order free from Leupold when you purchase the scope.

My only criticism is that the ring that must be turned to change magnification is somewhat hard to turn. I spoke to Leupold and was told that it will loosen up with time.

One of the advantages of this scope is the ability to use it in close quarters at its lowest setting (1X). In essence it becomes a red dot sight (RDS) capable of being used with both eyes open.

Leupold customer service is second to none.

Are there better scopes? Sure, but I doubt that one can get better quality, more ruggedness and functionality with a lifetime guarantee from a well-established, American manufacturer than with the Leupold VX6....

Great scope for AR varmint rifle

by JackP, from United States, SC Written on January 13, 2015
I just bought this Leupold scope for my new M&P AR-15. The rifle will be used primarily for coyotes on my property. The reduced size and weight for work great on the AR platform. Incredible clarity, which you would expect with a Leupold but especially with low light conditions. The FireDot illuminated reticle is helpful in putting the cross hairs on my often moving target. I own other Leupold scopes and this new VX-6 does not disappoint!...
Pros:
  • Illuminated reticle
  • low light performance
  • Reduced weight
Cons:
  • expensive but worth it
Best Used for:
  • Varmint, long distance target

Leupold VX6 1-6x24

by Hunter, from United States, NC Written on December 23, 2014
Leupold has come brought forth a very desirable scope in magnification range and functionality. The low end 1X magnification is very close to true 1X in my opinion. Maybe 1.1X. High end magnification seems close to 6X as advertised. That is what makes this scope stand out from other offerings from Leupold that could be had for less. Honestly there is a little fisheye on 1X but not enough to prevent me from making this purchase again. My favorite of many Leupolds! 4 stars as there is always room for improvement....

  • None
Cons:
  • None that I've seen

Leupold VX6 1-6 Firedot Illuminated Reticle

by Braniac, from United States, VA Written on October 10, 2014
I purchased this scope for my AR10 mainly due to it's light weight. After getting it I was amazed at the clarity of the glass even in very low light conditions. It is fully the equal of my Swarovski 1-6 in the glass department. The firedot is daylight visible, though not as bright as an aimpoint. However, the flexibility of the 1-6 more than compensates for it. I would totally recommend this scope to anyone using an AR10 or AR15, or a hunting rifle for mid to large game out to 400-500 yards. I have made 10 inch gong hits consistently out to 800 yards and it is due to the exceptional clarity. I can see better with this scope at 600-700 yards than I can with my Bushnell 10x scope....

Get this scope!! I had a EOTECH and its limited but good, this scope is Superior. Long eye relief, no tunnel effect, Crisp lens and great in Low light, Shoot FAST with both eyes open TRUE 1x, slide quick to 6x and tear up 500 yards, SHTF scope !!!, illuminated red dot for night time but not needed in daytime awesome to not require batteries to use reticle. Defense and Hunt with this scope. Light and compact. Get a quick clamp mount and take down fast from AR to bolt gun. 1 scope for ALL of your needs !!! Don't have the CDS dial, but its free and if you know Kentucky windage, distance to target and mil-dots determination, CDS not required! I emptied a 30rd clip from AR at neck portion silhouette at 50 yds as fast as I could pull trigger with NO misses inside the size of softball coverage on the neck which is smaller portion than the head-but I also have a Geissele DMR trigger which helps.
Pros: Fast Acquisition both eyes and no batteries required
Cons: Somewhat expensive...

VX-6 for AR 15

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, MO Written on July 8, 2013
After building a higher end AR15, it was necessary to replace my Nikon M223 2-8x so shopping I went. For weeks. I eventually settled on the VX-6 and so far I think it was a good choice for the AR. The CDS system looks like it will make the 6X setting much more useable. The scope appears to be of good quality.
Pros: True 1 power with 6X for longer more precise shooting. Looks like it will be good for 3 gun
Cons: Difficult to turn fire dot on and off...

The perfect AR15 / AK47 Scope

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on June 9, 2013
I have always been a fan of Leupold but this is my favorite scope from them so far. With true 1 x 6 magnification it can be used just like an Aimpoint for CQB but if you need to reach out to 200 yards just crank it up to 6 and take your shot. 30mm tube is awesome as it gathers light like scopes costing 3x the price. Not cheap but worth the money.
Pros: Super clear picture, illuminated dot, true 1 x 6 magnification
Cons: None...

Very nice

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, AZ Written on February 15, 2013
Highly recommended. Easy to use and adjust. Not too heavy or bulky especially this is a 1-6 and is a true 1x that you can use both eyes open.
Pros: Very crisp and sharp. Very easy to use with both eyes open at 1x. True 1x. Illumination dot is very small yet very bright. The auto on off feature is really nice and will save battery power
Cons: Under very low light there is some light bleed from the illumination at the higher intensities...
