unbelievably high quality

Before we get to the scope, let's start with the mounts. I usually use Ruger mounts for my No. 1s which I have to lap to true up before mounting the scope. I decided to try Leupold mounts which are designed for Ruger No. 1s. When I put the check cylinders in the mounts, they were dead on , no lapping required. Now the scope. When I bore sighted at 25 yds., the scope was only a few clicks from zero. Went to 100 yds. and had the scope zeroed with four shots. Put the next three shots through the same hole. Not bragging because I have never done that before. Mostly because of the Ruger No. 1 in 22-250 but partly due to the scope....

Leupold 6.5x20x40 VX3 Gets you "Out There"

by Bruce, from United States, TX Written on December 30, 2014
This scope replaced a 4.5 X 14 x 50 VX2. Was a bit concerned about losing some brightness when going from a 50 to a 40mm objective lense, but so far I cannot see a difference in light gathering - maybe the 30mm tube vs the 1" tube on the VX2 makes up for the smaller objective lense?
Image is bright and clear to the edges, side parallax adj is GREAT and I LOVE the additional magnification!
Aim small - hit small.
My only gripe is that Leupold does not offer Nickel DD rings in medium height.
The available high rings put the scope WAY TOO HIGH above the action!...

VX-3 6.5-20x40

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, VA Written on December 9, 2009
As with all of the Leupold scopes I have used over the years, the VX-3 line is great. This 6.5-20x40 scope has amazing clarity and the AO is spot on for getting distant targets focused in nice and crisp. And with the Alumina flip-open covers (sold separate) this thing is completely weatherproof and always ready for the shot. Not to mention the outstanding Leupold warranty that stands behind this scope. Unless you want to go up to the $1,000+ price range, this scope can't be beat.
Pros: Clear, great zoom, looks sweet, warranty
Cons: none...

Leupold VX3 6.5-20x40 Millimeter Long Range Rifle Scope

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on November 10, 2009
Scope was purchased to help with long range shooting. The scope was to have the ballist aiming system, did not. Also,The Tactile power indicator was suppose to have a range idicator on it, it did not. There was also a paralex lense adjustment mounted on the side which is suppose to also help in ranging target, no instructions on how to use this feature. I am sure once I learn on how to estamate range with whatever feature this scope has (paralex lens adjustment)I will be pleased 100% with this scope
Pros: Very Clear, easy focus
Cons: light defusion is an attachment thet screws on, cover will not fit with this addon....
