Leupold Yosemite 6x30 Binocular Surprise

by newt, from United States, CO Written on September 4, 2014
Saw a article in Bowhunter Magazine on Binoculars rated as excellent for under $200. The Leupold Yosemite BX1 Porro Prism binoculars were rated by the author of the article as #1 and a great deal. YES IT IS! Optic Lens are fully multi-coated, extremely clear, gathers light in dusk at sunrise and sunset better than most binoculars, are light to carry, and are very well made regarding quality. A great field of view and eye relief is fantastic. @ less than $100, why wouldn't anyone buy these great binoculars....

  • Light Gathering

Outstanding value

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on June 21, 2014
This binocular is simply an outstanding value. I have had mine for two or three years and have never regretted the purchase. The glass is very clear. The focus is fast and easy to use. The diopter adjustment is stiff, which means it will not accidentally move on you. The eye cups adjust quickly and snap into place. All told just an outstanding value for the money.
Pros: Light weight, good glass and optical quality
Cons: Might have gone for the eight power, but six power has done well for me....

Rt eye focus was stiff initially and hard to move; but got better after working it back and forth about 12 times. No other issues- was exactly as other positive reviews said.
Pros: Exactly as advertised
Cons: none...

Excellent for the price

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, FL Written on January 2, 2014
I have bought $100 'guest' binoculars in the past and been disappointed with one or more aspects of those, but these are OK or better for all important features. Excellent for bird watching up close. Nice weight. Good field of view. Good transmisison of light and true colors. Good alignment of left and right lenses. Comfortable to hold. The adjustable diopter ring is very resistant to turning, but that can be seen as a good thing since it would be difficult for someone to bump it out of focus. Good for eyeglasses wearer, but the twist-down cups need to be checked regularly as they twist very easily -- I may tape mine to keep them in place. I did not give it a 5 because it is not in the same class as $500 optics, and because it does not have a threaded hole to mount it on a tripod --- but hey, it is still definitely a very good value from a very good company.
Pros: No regrets for this purchase
Cons: Eye lens covers twist-up cups could be better...

The best you will find under $90!

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, TX Written on July 7, 2013
One of Leupold's most competitive products. Excellent sharpness, with very good field of view. Build quality seems very good, with sturdy eyepiece bridge. Eyecups snap in place very well. Focus speed is very good, with less than one full turn between the stops. Focus tension could be a bit less, but certainly average for the price. Neckstrap is neoprene, instead of cheap nylon webbing that is seen in most binoculars. The best part is the handling - they are small and light in weight, but still enough size for persons w/large hands to easily manage.
Pros: Excellent optics, lightweight, quick focus...
