Great product!

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, VA Written on September 26, 2013
Very easy to use with minimal set-up required. While the written instructions are ok - just take a look at one of the you-tube videos available regarding this product and you will be in business in no time. Highly recommended!
Pros: Easy to use, on paper every time!

Leupold Zero Point Bore Sighter

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, WY Written on November 16, 2012
Very simple to use and will fit any caliber rifle. Most difficult thing is centering device along center of bore so that windage adjustment is accurate. I have it to be very accurate and I am always on the target at 100 yards.
Pros: Easy to attach. No varying caliber studs
Cons: None...

Great Instrument

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, NV Written on April 28, 2011
New to mounting and zeroing a scope, this little instrument allowed me to set the initial sighting in my study. On the range, the first shot was only about 1" low and to the R... zeroed on that one shot as per http://www.leupold.com/mount/ - worked great!
Pros: Easy and quick

Oldstairdog

I bought this on a recomendation from my local "sportsman warehouse".They claimed that all thier military buddies use it to check "zero" in the field(I now doubt this statement as being valid).I struggled to get sighted in because of the lack of instructions. I checked "youtube" and could only find advertisements. There are however, several good instructional vidoes on "laser bore sights". I wish I had bought one instead.
Pros: easy to mount
Cons: unclear instructions...

Treat it kindly and you won't have to buy but one

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, TX Written on July 21, 2009
I loved this bore sighter. Even bore sighted my red dot with it. You should really observe the warning about removing it from the barrel before you shoot. If you don't you will see they are very fragile. At least mine was. So I ordered another one and determined to treat it with more respect.
Pros: Small and works really well with a little practice
Cons: Will not stay together if you shoot it....

Better than sliced bread

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, AL Written on July 12, 2009
There are a lot of reviews out there on this item. I checked many. Over 90% highly recommend it. However, I was almost "turned off" by several that stated that you could not boresight a red dot - not true- I was able to check and record the zero of a Trijicon RX09-23 on my AR, an EOTeck 512 on my son's AR and was able to boresight a Burris FastFire Red-Dot Reflex Sight on a Ruger .44mag auto.

It took a little experimenting to do the red dots. They were done indoors - incandescent lighting against a white background with the Leupold's illumination off.

The Leupold got the Ruger/FastFire on an 8" paper plate at 50yds. and took only three rounds and minor adjustments to zero it at 100yds.

I checked and recorded the zero on four other scoped rifles. It worked great on three of the (one with a stainless barrel); however on my 30-06 model 70 Win. the Leupold indicated that the boresight was 25" right of the zero. The vertical was right on.

Having zeroed and boersighted the M70 many tines and fired hundreds of rounds through it over the last 35 years, I knew that was an error.

The Leupold grid is calibrated in inches at 100yds. I checked boersight on the M70 using the Leupold and by looking through the bore at my club's 100yd. range. The techniques differed by ≈ 25". I then guessed the crown of the M70 bore was not machined perpendicular too the barrel.

Subsequent investigation indicated that was the reason for the anomaly. I estimate the M70 bore was c...
