Decent Sight, has some issues

by Matt Moroney, from United States, PA Written on September 26, 2014
I cannot recommend this sight after having it on my AK-47 for several hundred rounds. I have some problems with the sight such as the Auto-brightness working when it wants, often leaving me unable to see my reticle for a shot before the recoil impulse causes it to jump to the highest setting then settle back into the mid-range where it should have been to begin with. Another problem is the sight not allowing me to go to manual brightness setting without flicking it or tapping the housing, mine may be defective but this has been my experience with the sight. Furthermore for $90 more than the Bushnell Trs-25 I really don't feel like you are getting any better of a product, yes IMO it looks better and the AAA battery feature is an excellent touch but honestly cosmetics and battery availability are not worth the $90 to me, hope this helps you in deciding which RD to choose....
Pros:
  • AAA battery powered
  • Quality aluminum housing
  • auto-brightness mode
Cons:
  • wonky electronics work when they want to
Best Used for:
  • Target shooting

Lucid M7 red dot sight

by steelwind1, from United States, OK Written on August 30, 2014
This is my second red dot sight from Lucid. I have also purchased an HD7 sight. This sight make not take the punishment the HD7 sight would since it is armored with a rubber coating but this site is much lighter. They both seem to do everything as advertised....
Pros:
  • uses AAA bateries
  • very small and light
Cons:
  • may not be as robust at the HD7
  • needs a 1" riser for an AR platform
Would recommend: Yes

Lucid hits a home run with micro dot

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, MS Written on October 22, 2013
This is an incredible bargain for a quality micro dot. I call it a "poor man's Aimpoint micro." It's that good. No, it will probably not survive the Daniel Defense torture test (google that if you don't know) but for 99% of us, it has everything. Very rugged. Excellent circle dot reticle. I love all the extra functions such as auto brightness with manual over-ride and auto shutdown after two hours. Very simple to operate, simple to sight in. It will hold zero on a tactical shotgun shooting heavy slug loads. AAA battery is a great choice. Available everywhere 24/7/365. The emitter is so tiny and so well hidden down at 6 o'clock that I can't even see it unless I cant the optic up. My only criticism is that to run it on an AR you must use a small riser. You ought not have to pay extra for it, and the optional one looks sort of weird with its I beam design. Excellent new entry that will more than hold its own in a crowded and generally inferior market price point.
Pros: Solid Construction, great reticle choice, quality glass, invisible emitter diode, auto illumination and auto shut down
Cons: Should come with a riser without charge...
