Must HAVE Tool For Any Serious Gun Afficionado

by Jesse Tischauser, from United States, OK Written on March 14, 2015
I am not a gunsmith. I am a professional 3-gun competitor and a serious gun nut. I get asked a lot about my guns and gear and which is better then the next. Trigger pull weight is always a question I get asked. How much is your trigger pull? How much heavy is that trigger versus that trigger. So I bought this gauge to measure all of my triggers. It works great. It is incredibly accurate and sensitive. I wish I would have had one before. This is the same gauge my gunsmith uses as well.

Buy with confidence....

This gauge seems to be very accurate. My results compared favorably with the results from the shooting range trigger pull gauge. It's fairly consistant pul to pull and I like the ability to average 3 or more puls to develope a avg pull value....
Pros:
  • easy to use
  • Well constructed
  • excellent results
Cons:
  • None

Lyman Trigger Guage

Great price, accurate, like the case it came with. Instructions are a little vague but it's pretty easy to figure out. Easily worth the price compared to spring loaded trigger gauges, much more accurate.

Shipping time was horrible over 17 days by USPS from Illinois to Texas. Of course it was free, but might be worth the few extra bucks to pay for priority mail or UPS....
Pros:
  • easy to use
  • Accurate
Cons:
  • free shipping took FOREVER

Lyman Digital Trigger Pull Gauge

As usual, great price from Optics Planet.

I'll start with the zippered carry pouch. I thought the carry pouch was a nice touch (pictured with the trigger pull gauge). It has Velcro loops that adjust but are meant to store the the trigger pull "rod" (it unscrews for nice and semi-compact disassembly). There is a place to store the main electronic unit itself and a small pouch to store the battery.

The unit itself was about like anyone buying it would expect. There are no hidden negatives and nothing terribly exciting: it is an electronic trigger pull. It does what it's supposed to. I like the fact that you can get an average trigger pull. Let's face it, firearms are mechanical and the utilize things like springs. There is some friction to be expected and not every trigger pull will be the same (generally), although it might be close. You will get a sense of the range of your trigger pull with this unit.

The only thing that annoyed me, unless I missed it, is that there is no "off" button or switch. I must be old school, but I like to shut things off when not in use. The unit will automatically shut down after 5 or so minutes (maybe less, I can't remember). Or, if you're really done, you can just remove the battery like I did.

Would I buy this again? Absolutely....

Lyman Digital Trigger Pull Gauge

This is a great trigger pull gauge as I have used my son's - UNFROTUNATELY THE ONE I ORDERED TWO WEEKS AGO has yet to arrive - perhaps in today's mail :-) From looking at the postal tracking it appears it was stuck in in initial receiving post office for over a week- perhaps a bad address label?...

Simple Tool That Works

by GM, from United States, VA Written on September 26, 2014
One tip: If you have trouble with the averages function, it's probably because the Ready button is pressed more than once before a test pull. That throws-off the average result because it is adding in an additional pull with a small value as an actual pull....

trigger pull gauge

As for the product it was great. As to customer service ... optics planet had the item in Stock and they shipped it fast. Many times I have ordered from companies who promise fast shipping and collect money for overnight service but the item still takes 4 or 5 days to arrive. Not Optics Planet. As for this particular product since it was made by Lyman I assumed it would be high quality and it was. I am very satisfied....

Lyman Electronic Digital Trigger Pull Gauge

I wanted to confirm trigger pull weights on my AR15 and Glock 22 after doing some trigger work. It seems to be well made. The readings are fairly consistent. After 10 pulls it will give you the average trigger pull weight.Has a nice storage bag. Great item....

Good product but limited range

by VTnewbie, Verified Owner from United States, VT Written on March 8, 2013
This gauge does not work with guns having a trigger pull in excess of 14 lbs (some revolvers). Otherwise a useful tool.
Pros: simple, easy to use
Cons: Limited to about 14 lbs on high end...
