Works good with CFE223

by Max, from United States, AL Written on July 31, 2014
So far I really this powder measure. After setting it up, I measured the first ten throws of CFE223 and the were all exactly the same. The manual however needs some work as it doesn't really give much information but the unit is easy to figure out....

An excellent powder measure.

Surprise..surprise! It's still made in the USA. As I now have a two loading bench operation the need for two measures was needed as I did not want to move the one back and forth. My old 55 is over twenty years old and very reliable. I opted for another Lyman 55. Built like a tank, same as the old one! Any serious reloader would not be disappointed in this great measure.
Pros: Very easy to set up and adjust
Cons: None...

Postive review

Been using a Redding thrower for 40 years and it is no longer consistent especially with flake powders. This fills the bill nicely, all throws with in 1/10 grain. Would recommend to anyone.
Pros: Value for money is great.
Cons: Different metering than most measures....

Simple + Easy + Solid + Complete = Best buy!

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on September 14, 2013
My reloading experience began with my brother's Dillon XL650. I just wanted my own press, so I bought a Lyman T-Mag II, and this Lyman No. 55 powder measure was the logical choice to complement it.

No regrets!

Solidly built, has all the 'goodies' included (powder buffer; you can hook it to the bench using the built-in rear mounting clamp, or on top of the press, using the provided adapter; the reservoir is made of clear plastic -others in green or red make it difficult to check the remaining powder inside the reservoir-; simple handling; easy to setup).

Only drawback could be its half height reservoir capacity, but it's not a real problem, because I don't like to use it at its full capacity. But if you need more, there's a 7000 grain reservoir available for only $7.69.

I recommend it !

:-)
Pros: Built like a rock, has all the necessary accessories included
Cons: Half height reservoir (but there's a 7000 grains' one available!)...

Great Value in a Powder Measure

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, GA Written on December 28, 2011
I began reloading for my 257 Ackley Improved in 1955. For many years powder charges were measured with a old Redding scale with a 'oil' damper.
A few years ago, after my second retirement, I got hooked on the AR platform and 9mm.
Lee powder measures haven't quite satisfied my desire for accuracy. Slowly over a couple of years I expanded my collection of AR's to include several .223's in various twists and a pair of 6.5 Grendel, a .204 Ruger and a 300 ACC. I eventually found it absolutely impossible to throw charges of H110 with my Lee 'Powder Perfect'. Through the wonders of the Internet I was able to read dozens of reviews various measures. I was set to buy a Harrell when I got a email from Optics Planet with a opportunity to get a extra discount and free shipping on my next purchase.
I decided to try a Lyman 55 on the chance that it would deliver the accuracy I wanted. As it happened, by the time I placed my order it was out of stock and I had to wait nearly a month for delivery. When the measure was finally delivered, I was careful to read the instructions several times before trying to put it to use. I carefully disassembled the measure and floated the parts in denatured alcohol before reassembly. I chose to spray everything with 'RemDryLube' before reassembly. While being so careful and meticulous I still failed to clean the drop tubes which 'bit me in the can' when I began working with BLC(2).
To validate my evaluation I decided to reload 32-20, 300 AC...
