Super duffle bag

by kolobreid, from United States, UT Written on August 27, 2014
This is a very neat bag for those who like overkill, and I only say that because it could have fewer features and it would still be a great bag. There are a few things that I would change if I designed it. First it has only one hold down strap on the inside, right in the middle. This bag is long enough that it should have two. Almost anything that you pack in it would be in two stacks, think pants and shirts, a middle strap will catch neither. Second is a four combo set of compression straps on the outside. They look great but reality is that they are a bit much and become a pain every you need to open the bag. I like the security but two would have been fine. Three is the shoulder strap (the single sling strap), I like it and I used it (great in the airport mens room) but it is difficult to remove and store when not using it. It just needs a couple of snap links and then you can stow it in the back compartment with the backpack harness. Lastly it has a lot of molly webbing that I wonder if it has much need for. It just barely meets carry on specs. so adding on anything might give you some grief there. Maybe if you were actually using it as a backpack verses traipsing between taxis and hotels you might need to use the expandable function? Overall it is a really neat bag and well built and most people can live with the few thing I listed. Adios...

Very good bag

Top-notch quality pack overall.
I like the possibility to carry is as a backpack which frees hand, quite useful especially when you are with children.
The multiple carry handles on different sides on the pack ensure that whatever the way the pack is facing when presented to you, you will always be able to get a firm grip on it to yank it.
The side and top pockets are too thin IMO, you cannot put a lot in them especially since when you stuff your bag, it compresses these areas making putting things in or out of them a bit tricky.
The MOLLE on the sides is facing the wrong way. Obviously their orientation was made so that the opening of pouches would be facing up when carried in backpack mode. But in practice the bag will be lying horizontally when you pack it. This means that the Molle pouches will be opening on the side rather than on the up which makes them unpractical to stuff. Thus the MOLLE webbing should be facing up so that MOLLE pouches can be more easily packed.
Pros: Multiple carry handles, backpack carrying ability
Cons: Side and top pockets too thin, Side MOLLE wrong way...

Excellent piece of luggage

Got it, measured it to make sure it still fit into airline specs which it did. Then began to stuff things in it, found out if you pack it super-full, it would be slightly too big to fit into the carry-on display at the airport. but packing it reasonably will fit no problem. The only problem I found is that since I wear a size 12 shoe, they don't fit too well in the shoe carrying pockets(at least that's what I assume the two symmetrical pockets are for)But as a 6' tall average dude, I could pack enough in it for a week no problem. Might not be the best choice for a suit carrier, but if you are carrying on a suit, you have already decided to press it at your final destination so this bag would work I suppose. You do have to be fairly manly to compress the bag with the straps as due to the placement they are hard to adjust, much easier to tighten the strap and then snap it together. All in all, a great piece of luggage for a MALE... This review is for male, it would work for a female, but it does wind up being kind of bulky which would be a problem if you wear your fancy clothes when flying, the backpackable feature is really nice, but since i had a Kodiak Gearslinger on my back i had to lug it around like a regular duffel hence my bulky comments.
Pros: almost everything
Cons: helps if you wear a size 11 shoe or smaller...
