It is a very good looking bag. I like the design but it's very small. The material is also much thinner than I thought it would be, as you can easily see light through it. Although I like the handle, it makes getting into the main compartment a bit difficult. Overall I am happy with the purchase since I could not find anything else. The $60 price tag seems a bit high for what you get. Customer service at Planet Optics is excellent!

Bought bag for a trip to Hawaii (sightseeing, hiking and beach). I used the small pockets for my digital camera and wife's cigeretts and the main compartment held my cell phone, cigars, and various misc items. On one "hike" the small side pocket held a small plastic water bottle just fine. The Maxpedition gear products are well made and sturdy. Buying from OpticsPlanet was a "No-Brainer" due to their competive pricing, free shipping and quick shipping... it was so easy "a cave man could do it." I love this bag for day trips and hikes. May need to look into an actual water bottle holder attachment, but would want to make sure that it does not become to heavy... I want a lightweight "fanny-pack" and not a heavy "day-pack"! I love this bag!!!

Pros:  Lots of room, durable, hard wearing, carrying handle
Cons:  belt adjustment slips, not easy to see what compatible attachment accessories are
Would recommend:  yes

The Maxpedition Proteus Versipack is incredibly well built. It's waterproof, the carrying handle makes it really easy to either carry or adjust around your waist. If I had to say there was an issue with it, it would be that the belt tighteners slips too easily. When I grab the pack by the plastic belt buckles so I can clip them around my waist, the weight of the pack pulls the belt tighteners and the belt tightness changes as a result. An attachment to 'retain' the belt tightness would be helpful in this regard. In addition, I have difficulty finding out which attachment tietacs or accessories I should be getting for the pack. I can see that the 5" tietacs are recommended, but it's not clear it those are to attach the Versipack to a backpack, or to attach accessories to the Versipack. Because I do not have a local distributor it's difficult to find out myself at a shop and I don't want to order an item online, have it delivered and find out it isn't what I need.
