Reviews & Ratings for Meade 8-inch LX200 ACF UHTC Telescope w/ GPS, Smart Drive Mount
from United States, FL Written on March 3, 2008
This scope is a dream to use even though it takes about a half hour to set up and align. Once done it will go to the object selected from the menu. Stars are in focus right to the edge of the supplied 26mm wide field eyepiece. Tracking is good enough for photography with exposures to about one minute. From there you can stack them and eliminate the rotation problem. This one is about at my limit for lifting and carrying out the porch door to the tripod. Even in heavily light polluted areas I see objects I've found only in magazines. I'd do it all again without hesitation.
Pros: Excellent image focused to edge of field. Very sturdy.
Cons: Could be a little lighter for older people....
Would recommend: Yes
